There seems to be a new trend in the sports world. Players make public the details of their contract negotiations, hoping to use that as leverage against the team they play for, and get more money. Which is apparently what Jonathan Papelbon is choosing to do in his contract negotiations. From Jonathan: “I’m at the [...]

Sean Casey, Boston’s newest bench guy (and backup 1st baseman) was unveiled to the media at Fenway yesterday, having completed his physical, and signing a 1-year $800K contract with the Sox…From Sean: “I’m at the stage of my career where I just feel like I really wanted to come to a place where I had [...]

In the midst of a plague at my house this weekend, but, as my husband is a NY Giants fan, last night’s win did wonders for his health…
I am not a football fan–I know you get 4 tries to go 10 yards, and if you are not close after the 3rd try, you should punt–that’s about the [...]

Not only did the Sox not pick up someone in the Rule 5 Draft (notable Draftee: Lenny DiNardo–got him from the Mets, remember?) The Giants and the Phillies each picked up a pitcher from the Sox organization: left-handed starter Jose Capellan, 21, who went 4-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 14 starts with [...]

The Sox go from being inches away from signing a deal with the Twins for Johan Santana, to the Twin going out and actually asking other teams if they want him–W…T…F…?
Apparently the Twins want both Jon Lester AND Jacoby Ellsbury–the Sox say “one or the other–not both”
C’mon are the Twins still made over the whole [...]

As another day passes at the Winter Meetings, the Sox are still in the running for the services of left handed pitcher Johan Santana, and there are a bunch of indications that they are the only ones left.
Apparently, the Skanks are sticking to their word that Monday night at midnight they DID remove [...]

Unless the Skanks totally wimp out and withdraw their deadline of midnight last night (which is completely like–just like they did the whole A-fraud thing) it looks like Johan Santana will not be playing for the NY Yankees next year–HA HA…
And rumor has it that the Sox and the Twins were exchanging medical info on [...]

…And the Sox wait to see if Minnesota will accept their offering, or the Skanks for Johan Santana…Apparently, the Skanks have put a deadline of today for their offering, which includes their best and brightest pitching prospect, Phil Hughes, as well as Melky Cabrera…and this is royally p*ssing off the Twins…so its geting interesting…
The Sox [...]

To be perfectly honest, I didn’t think there was a snowball’s chance in hell that the Sox would actually be able to get a deal done to get Johan Santana into a Red Sox uniform–unless they gave up Ellsbury, Buchholtz, and every other top prospect in the organization–but if all the reports are to be [...]

Whoooo Hooooo!
Mike Lowell has agreed to a 3 year, $37.5 million deal with the Boston Red Sox. Apparently, he was offered a 4 year deal somewhere else. (I think it might have been Philadelphia–UGH) But fortunately opted to stay with the Sox…Perhaps the deadline of yesterday also helped seal the deal…
And at least 1 teammate [...]
