    Red Sox 2, Tigers 4:
Always Seems to Work This Way…

Posted by Christine E. at 6:46 pm in Baseball,Old Friends,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

The Sox trade a player for whatever reason, and then this player, more often than not, plays an instrumental role in the Red Sox loss.

Last night it was former Red Sox rookie phenom/shortstop Jose Iglesias, and it was a 2-run homer, given up by Drew Pomeranz in his 2nd start in a Red Sox uniform during the 4th inning, which put the Tigers ahead for good. Oh and Victor Martinez scores Iglesias in the 8th inning.

    Yeah…Outstanding

Speaking of Pomeranz, he was much better that he was in his first start, pitching 6 competent inning, only giving up 2 runs on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 7. He threw 99 pitches, 64 for strikes

THEN Joe Kelly, who I reallyREALLY want to like, but holy hell he reminds me of The Wild Thing from Major League because he can throw 100 miles an hour, but honestly I don’t think he could hit the barn if he was inside it…

And then of course, the Sox are down 3-1, and who does John Farrell call from the bullpen? That Clay Person. Because… of course he does…and GUESS WHAT?? He gives up ANOTHER run! Because…of course he does…

Of course, the 11 men the Sox stranded, and the bases loaded with no outs in the 8th inning situation more than kinda sucked, cause all they could manage to squeak out of THAT was one run….Of course, they were up against Verlander, who is much more human than he used to be (10-6 with a 3.64 ERA), but still good enough to hold the Sox to 1 run for 6 innings…

    Holy hell…

Speaking of. Apparently Chris Sale, White Sox pitcher extraordinaire and complete infantile malcontent may be on the trade block. And holy buckets you can hear the fan salivating from here. I’ve never subscribed to the “doesn’t matter if they are a crappy human, as long as they win” mentality, and am not starting now. He started in Spring Training when he was all full of righteous indignation because Adam LaRoche’s son wasn’t going to be allowed 100% full access to everything White Sox–not your kid–not your business.

And then there is THIS, the COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY inexplicable concept that a grown man would do something like this, and actually believe, in his heart of hearts, that it was OK: He didn’t like the vintage jerseys the team was going to wear so he took a pair of SCISSORS and CUT THEM UP. And he destroyed so many of them, the team ended up not having enough to wear. WTF is WRONG WITH YOU??????

The Pale Hose responded by sending him home, suspending him for 5 days without pay, and making him pay for the uniforms. And in his first interview back this…..BABY thought he was 100% justified in what he did. You can read more here

    Asshat.

Uh no, thanks, keep your guy, we’re good…

However, the trade deadline is this Sunday at 4, so I would not be surprised, with the plethora of fine young prospects and players the Sox have, that they are in the mix for someone, preferably a pitcher, and anyone buy Sale…

Coming up: The Sox and Tigers in game 2 of their 3 game set against Detroit. Stephen Wright goes for his 13th win, opposed by Mike Pelfry, who has Buchholtz-type numbers (3-9, with a 4.78 ERA). Let’s hope there is no reverse lock here–and that the bats wake up. 1st pitch 7:10pm…
