    October 12, 2015: 9 Things…

Posted by Christine E. at 8:17 pm in Baseball,Old Friends,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Thankful this (mostly) lost season is over as I juggle a toddler in pre-school, abnormal psych, and a tooth in need of a root canal…

    1. So we are a week into the postseason, and the World Series matchup I would most like to see if the Cubs and Toronto. Anyone versus the Cubs would be a close second. For many reasons. Such as poor Steve Bartman would finally be left the hell alone. The Cubs getting there is a giant F**K YOU to the Red Sox management by Theo, as I think they treated him like crap. And St. Louis, for as nice and informed their fans are, needs to go home and let someone else have a shot. I don’t like ANY team winning year after year after year. And no, I wouldn’t want the Red Sox to either. There is no fun in not fighting hard to get to the dance…

    2. And in case you were wondering, what I would consider the World Series of Boring is the Cardinals and the Astros, or the Rangers. Would not watch a minute of either….Although to be fair, I have watched precious little of this year’s campaign anyway…

    3. So Dave Dombrowski has some work to do in the offseason, as the Sox need need NEED an ace, some bullpen help, and to immediately (if not sooner) trade freaking dead weight Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval….Both have been told to rework their offseason training (laying off the Krispy Kremes for Panda would probably be helpful), and if they come back in SHAPE and ready to contribute, I’ll be OK with them staying, but I just do not think Hanley gives a giant rats ass….and evidenced by his antics in 2015

    4. But it begs the question: Is anyone safe with this guy? Is David Ortiz? Dare I say it, (gasp) Dustin Pedroia? I would like to think they are. Just like I would like to think that the young ‘uns such as Mookie, and JBJ and Xander, and Blake will not be used as random trade bait, unless they reallyREALLY get something amazing (like Mike Trout caliber), but then again, who knows what their thought process is?

    5. I was happy to the key members of the coaching staff would be back next year, most notably John Farrell. I just hope he is well enough to resume his duties, although Bench Coach Torey Lovullo filled in admirably at the end of 2015, and the Sox were quick to button him up for two more years, AND he agreed not to go look for a managerial job, so the ballclub obviously holds him in high regard….AND the team did go 28-19 under his tutelage…

    6. And I hope you will allow me a moment to engage in some Schadenfreude–The Skankees are playing golf today…..and have been since being knocked out of the postseason on the very.first.day…..Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

    7. Yes, I know, the Sox didn’t even come close, ending up DEAD LAST, 15 games behind with a 78-84 (.481 winning %) record, and losing their last 4 games (although they DID win 6 of their last 10). BUT, the Skankees having no freaking chance AT ALL to win a World Series, make the Sox abysmal season much more palatable…

    8. Speaking of a lot less palatable, despite the fact that he did NOTHING the last 3 months of the season because he was (shockingly) injured, That Clay Person will likely be around next season, as he has a $13 million option, and unfortunately, that’s pretty cheap if he isn’t a complete headcase, or continues to be injured. Personally, I think both are completely unlikely…

    9. Coming up: 4 games in the AL and NL Division Series. Both ALCS games are tied at two each, so the contest on Wednesday is for all the marbles…Both National League Series are tied at 1 game apiece…

A Cubs/Toronto World Series needs to happen. NEEDS. to. happen…
