Red Sox 2, Tampa Bay 5: I don’t even know WHAT to say anymore…

    Posted by Christine E. at 8:41 pm in Baseball,Old Friends,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

While the last couple weeks have certainly been more palatable, and chances are good they will not end up dead last in the AL East for the 2nd time in as many years, that also wrecks their draft order, as dead last gets you a better spot.

And while I certainly don’t want them to suck, it’s what they have been doing all year, so why change now? Especially when it cannot help, and only be a disadvantage…

So the Sox are 2 games into their final home stand of the 2015 campaign, a season I (and I expect so many others) will try and forget by the time October 4th rolls around, and have won 1 and lost one against Tampa Bay, in what has developed into a battle for last place (The Sox are 1/2 game behind). Then they move onto the Oreos, who, in 3rd place, are also in the mix for the awfulest team in the AL.

I just want this season to be O-VA, and hopefully Dave Dombrowski will do SOMETNING, so we do not have a 3rd year of this nonsense. Enough is enough…

Speaking of, Pablo Sandoval has what everyone is saying is a “significant” upper respiratory illness. Uh huh. While I am sure he IS sick, it makes me wonder (and I am sure I am not the only one) what effect his lack luster conditioning regime had on that. 162 games is a long time–and even those who really work on their conditioning, have points in the season where they struggle. So if it’s under par, it has to be worse–right? How many times has he been “dizzy” or “dehydrated” this season? LOTS….

And shockingly, with 11 games/days left in the season, it is looking more and more likely That Clay Person will NOT be pitching again this year–especially since he has not even thrown off the MOUND yet. And honestly, is this a surprise to anyone here? Anyone? Bueller?

And how bout Xander Bogaerts with his first career grand slam on Monday night to give the Sox the win against Tampa Bay. It was his 7th for this year, and he has hit .321 with 73 RBI’s during the span…He is also nominated for the Best Breakout Player which is determined by the fans, retired players, SABTR voters, as well as front offices and media…Old friend Andrew Miller (stupidly with the Skanks) is also a nominee…

Big Papi got some most excellent swag for hitting 500 homers, including an Infinity SUV, a plaque and LL Bean Boots, custom made. Pedro, Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield were also on-hand for the festivities on Monday night. The Large Father weighs in: “This is home. I wish I could’ve got it done here, but it’s not that simple, that’s not how it works. But I’m happy to be there, happy to be home and that the Red Sox [had] a ceremony for me.”

Finally, Hanley does not want to return to game action until he is “pain free”. Uh, he’s a professional baseball player, when exactly are they ever pain free??? the 12th of NEVER? It’s been over 3 weeks since he went on the DL, which he could have been activated from a week and a half ago…and nuthin….The Sox are stil saying he will start at first base this year. I’m thinking not. But maybe that will be the game That Clay Person pitch….

Coming up: Game 3 of 4 in the last series against Tampa Bay for this year. Ric Porcello, who stil pretty much sucks (8-13, with a 5.16 ERA–although he sucks less at Fenway: 5-6/4.38 ERA) is opposed by SMYLY, as in Drew Smyly (I say that with a sneer, sort of like I would say “Myron”–Can’t help it) 1st pitch: 7:10pm.

    1. Mitch Mitchell says:

Very disappointing year that’s for sure. I hate say that I called it at the beginning of the year but I did. This team hasn’t had any pitching, and allowing their top tier pitchers to go to other teams… unforgivable! Oh well, maybe we can get one more good year out of Papi… if we can give this team some pitching.
