Red Sox 8, Skanks 13: So Much For Being a Spoiler…

Posted by Christine E. at 8:39 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Some random thoughts after my 3-hour root canal, while I wait for the novacaine to wear off…

So the Sox won by a little bit on Monday (4-3), and lost by a little bit on Tuesday, (3-1), and then got beat up (13-8) in the rubber match this afternoon. Am I the only one who things Red Sox/Skanks games (even those that completely and utterly do not matter) should not be played midweek? I’m not saying they should have all ESPN games, but at least weekends…

And because no random thought post is complete without a “check for pods” update: How the hell is Toronto in first place in September? And with 1.5 games ahead of the Skanks to boot. Honestly, this craziness in baseball must be what gives the Sports Handicappers fits when they are working up their predictions and odds.

But then again, we all know that baseball is a fickle mistress, and stuff happens that no one can prepare for. Like this 2nd crappy season in a row. Or the fact that the Sox can beat the teams who will be heading to the dance in a couple weeks (like the Mets) , but cannot beat the crappy teams (such as the Marlins)

So apparently, it is NOW coming out that Hanley has had a shoulder injury for quite some time, which is the reason for his alarming loss of power this season. So he is currently day to day, and getting treatment , but when (and IF) he returns in 2015, its over to first base, leaving the outfield to those who know what the frack they are doing…Until then, he is doing strengthening exercises with the hope of addressing the issue. Cause this nonsense needs to stop…

But what does not need to stop is the home runs of Big Papi. He is 5 away from 500, which is at least something to root for in this completely lost season. Eventually The Large Father will show his age–But the 2015 Campaign is not the time. 5 Homers in 29 games? For David Ortiz when he is pretty locked in? Yep, that can happen….

Finally, another thing that needs to happen is NESN needs to let DO go, and not make him finish this season out. They not only pulled all this nonsense with a month left to go, but Tom Werner gave this bullshit weak-ass excuse: “…we felt that starting next year it was worth going in a different direction reenergizing the broadcast. And when the opportunity presented itself to bring Dave O’Brien to NESN, we just felt after a great deal of thought and consideration that was the right decision to make.” Fine, then fracking SPARE him the torment and let him go…

Coming up: One of the few remaining off days of the season, and then a 3-game weekend series against the Phillies. Because of that “natural rivalry” the Sox and the Phillies have. You know the one that no one can figure out exactly what that it. I freaking hate the Phillies. Blech…
