Red Sox 3, Blue Jays 1: Sure, NOW they start winning…

Went to Fenway with my daughter and friend last week, and the only thing that went wrong the entire time is the Sox losing to the fracking Cookies. Oh, and the “wave” and “sweet Caroline” nonsense, with all the “fans” just following along blindly, apparently not noticing that the Sox were LOSING, and they are just pretty fracking abysmal again this year–just like last year…Shouldn’t do that crap when they are losing. Just…NO.

And speaking of that song, does anyone else get creeped out when they think about how Neil Diamond supposedly wrote that for Caroline Kennedy when SHE WAS A CHILD.

But it was good to go back to the Fens, and the folks around us this year were cool and not even remotely obnoxious to my toddler, who was wearing her Dustin Pedroia Sox shirt, and walking around like she owned the joint, as toddler’s are apt to do…And she had a blast, and is well on her way to being a Sox fan like her mom. Actually, she can like any team she wants–as long as it’s not the Skanks…Because…NO….

So That Clay Person is continuing NOT to suck, and is actually being quite brilliant, going 8 strong in last night’s win, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while walking none, hitting a batter, and striking out 5. He threw 96 pitches, 68 for strikes….And shockingly this is his 11th quality start for the 2015 campaign. Totally did not see that coming. But then again, it makes me wonder if he is pitching well because there is no pressure, because the team is awful, and if they started to do well, would he start being a headcase again? I wonder…..

This is now his 3rd win in a row, and is now a .500 pitcher (6-6) with a 3.48 ERA.

Still no sure what the deal is with Hanley Ramirez, the MRI shows no structural damage, and the swelling is down, but his timetable to return is still sketchy. John Farrell is saying maybe this series, but frankly, I like De Aza in the lineup better. He is hitting well (.400 with 3 homers in the 4 games he has started in left field in Hanley’s absence), and he defense sucks less….

The All-Star game is the week after next, and while I always wait until the last minute to cast my ballot, I am not even sure I want to this year, cause is there really anyone on this team that is worthy of being an All-Star? Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez, 4th and 13th respectively in the voting, are the Sox best shots, and even that seems remote. Deadline is Thursday at 11:59pm, and because there are no paper ballots for the first time this year, you can vote up to 35 times per e-mail address. And do not even get me started on the multiple votes nonsense….

So I hear MLB is changing the format of the Home Run Derby to make it go faster. Hey MLB, could you put a muzzle on Chris Berman while you are at it? HE and his infernal and uninspired “Back Back Back” is FAR more annoying than the length of the contest…Can we get a man on this?

Coming up: Game 2 of the 4-game series against Toronto, Eduardo Rodriguez, who has been pretty good, but was pretty bad when I saw him pitch last week, not even being able to get out of the 4th inning and giving up 6 runs. He is opposed by Marco Estrada, who has taken a no-hitter into the 8th inning in his last 2 starts–let’s hope 3rd time is not the charm. 1st pitch: 7:07pm.
