    December 4, 2014:
    4 Months To Go…

Posted by Christine E. at 6:00 pm in Baseball,Old Friends,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

    …give or take a couple days…

It’s 28 degrees here in the Northeast, we had snow on Thanksgiving, and summer seems so far away…just like it does every year. But the Hot Stove has been doing a decent job of warming up the Red Sox, so now if the Sox can just focus on starting pitching (Jon Lester, cough cough), things would be even better…

Speaking of… Apparently, The Dodgers are making this big splash play for Jon Lester at the 11th hour. Up to this point it has been the Sox, Theo’s cubbies, the Braves, San Fran, and Toronto. Honestly, how on EARTH could he possibly want to go to the fracking DODGERS???? That totally does not seem like a good fit for him and his personality. And if he does decide to make it all about the money, and go to La La Land, then he’s not the guy I thought he was, and deserves what he gets…

And if the Sox do not get Lester, they need to get SOMEONE cause right now freaking That Clay Person is the default Ace of the Boston Red Sox, and they will ne-VA E-VA will a world series that way..E-VA.

So now it’s all official with the pressers, and the “I am OH SO happy to be playing with the Sox” stuff out of the way, and we will see how this plays out. I spoke to a San Fran fan this week, and he said Sandoval is a great player, if he keeps his weight in check, as he did in this contract year. Otherwise, it could become a thing…

And then there is Hanley, who said the Sox broke his heart when they traded him to the Marlins for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell–a trade I would make. Every. Stinking. Time. And I can understand how trading him to Loria and his satanic minions could make him a cranky boy, and that could be the reason for his attitude and immature behavior. Hopefully that means now that he is returning to the Sox, all will be well.

    Hopefully…

Remember when you were little, and someone in your grammar school class would invite everyone is class, but like one or two people? Well, the Sox just did that to Juan Francisco, the only Red Sox player not to be tendered a contract for the 2015 campaign. How exactly does that go? Everyone in a room and Ben says: “everyone is signed–but you.”

And I know, everyone is now saying: Who the frack is Juan Francisco?” Me too. Apparently he was only on the 40-man for 6 days…so if ya blinked…ya missed him…

And there are 2 players in the arbitration sweepstakes this year: Daniel Nava, and Junichi Tazawa. I’m thinking the no hearing streak alive since 2002 will remain so this offseason…

Finally, fellow BBA-er Kirk from the The Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame has announced Crash Davis, Roy Hobbs, and Ricky Vaughan have been named as the first full class of inductees to the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame, joining inaugural candidate Rocky Balboa. Your can read all about it here… (LINK)

Coming up: Winter Meetings begin next Monday in sunny San Diego. Will Ben make any more intriguing deals? Could Jon Lester REALLY want to go to LA? We’ll see….
