    Red Sox 3, Oreos 2:
Yeah, it doesn’t matter, but it matters…

Posted by Christine E. at 7:04 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

It matters because it’s one step closer to having a better record (even if it’s by one stinking game) than the Bobby Valentine Debacle of 2012…

It matters because the Sox have won far too few series, scored far too few runs, and did far too FEW of a lot of things in the 2014 Campaign…

It matters because by this time next week there will be no more Red Sox baseball until April freaking 6th, so even though we are tired of watching them this year, watching them WIN is oh so much more palatable…

It matters because Buck Showalter is a self-righteous jerk, and beating his ballclub is NEVER a bad thing…

Speaking of the whole “by this time next week” thing. The Skanks have an E# of FOUR, and are currently in 5th place, 4.5 games behind Oakland and KC. So unless every team in contention loses every remaining game, and the Skanks win every game–which could totally happen, as doesn’t EVERYONE want to see Jeter win one more World Series before he retires??

Better idea! Just stop the season NOW, and give the WS trophy to the Skanks, with Jeter as MVP, natch.

And yet another reason I am GLAD this season is almost over…the Jeter-ass kissing is getting. O…L…D…

Joe Kelly is certainly making a compelling case to be part of the starting rotation this year, (pretty much the only guy who has) with another great outing in yesterday’s win. Pitching 7 innings of 2 run ball, he gave up 3 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5, throwing 95 pitches, 59 for strikes. He is now 3-2, with a 4.15 ERA for the Sox, and actually the only bad outing he’s had was that game against the Astros in August where he gave up 7 runs….

So there are 6 games left in the season, 3 against Tampa Bay, and 3 against the Skanks. And absolutely ZERO of them have any meaning to any of the teams involved. (Unless the impossible and inexplicable happens and the Skanks need them to get in the Postseason). This raises playing out the string to a whole new level.

Here’s a funny thing. I was talking to a Cub fan today, who offered his condolences about the Red Sox Season, and said: “Well, now you know what it feels like to live in Chicago” Uh, no, as the Cubs are consistently sucky, and the Sox have won 3 World Series in a decade. So what am I missing here? What’s the connection?

Finally, while the reason he did it is a pretty sucky one (he cheated on his wife) Ron Washington’s willingness to step up and admit what he did was wrong, ask for forgiveness, and resign his post as Ranger’s Manager, is a classy gesture. Especially in light of the nonsense going on in the NFL. So while I do not condone what he did in any manner, I respect the hell out of him for stepping up, being a man and an adult, and taking responsibility for his actions…

Coming up: The last off day of the 2014 campaign, which is kind of ironic because in less than a week, they are going to have A LOT of off days. Then it’s all Fenway Park from here on out. 3 against Tampa Bay, with That Clay Person getting the ball for Game 1, opposed by Alex Cobb. First pitch: 7:10PM.

And hey, perhaps this will be the last time we ever see That Clay Person Pitch. We can DREAM, can’t we?
