    Red Sox 6, Mariners 8:
Just When You Think They’ve Hit Rock Bottom…

Posted by Christine E. at 8:02 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

You discover that rock bottom has subbasements. LOTS of them…

So that makes EIGHT games in a row, including 2 sweeps. Of course, they had a chance in all of these contests–well, OK, maybe the one where they were almost no-hit A-GAIN they didn’t, but holy hell KOJI with 2 outs in the 9th on Friday night gives up FIVE RUNS??? What the hell???

This is a crash and burn of EPIC proportions, and its gearing up to be a WORSE year than 2012–and it’s entirely possible this team could be a 100 game loser this year. Yeah. Take a minute, I’ll wait. And holy buckets, did we EVER see that coming after last year???

But speaking of last year, thank the deity of your choice that the Sox have actually won a World series or 3 in the last 10 years, cause could you IMAGINE how awful this would be if they hadn’t? I remember the pre-WS win years, where every loss put me in a funk, and had me reaching for the tequila. While I am pissed off and frustrated about how the season is playing out, it’s not sending me spiraling into madness (well, anymore mad that I am currently am)

Oh well, I guess there is always football, if your into that. Unfortunately, baseball is it for me, so its gonna suck pretty bad for me until the spring, or if we have a reallyREALLY interesting offseason. But if you’re into football, or betting on it, you can head over to these top rated NFL onlinebetting sites for the 2014-15 football season.

And I forgot how nice it’s been not having to deal with annoying Skankee fans, as the most annoying ones usually avoid me. I have been lucky, the ones I have met I have been able to actually carry on a conversation with. So of course, I run into one of those “We have 26 WS rings, blah blah blah” troglodytes this weekend. Fun times. Blech…

Thankfully, it seems that Xander Bogaerts will not have any lasting effects from being hit in the head by a pitch on Friday night. As a precaution, he was placed on the 7-day concussion list on Sunday, and will stay home in Boston for the Toronto series, but barring any unforeseen, will join his teammates in Tampa for the weekend. Every time there is a head injury I think back to that HORRIBLE Johnny Damon/Damien Jackson collision during the 2003 postseason, and I CRINGE…

We may actually see the Sox newest player before the season ends. At this point Cuban defector Rusney Castillo is working with the rookie Gulf Coast League, as he has not played baseball in 18 months, and then will be moving to the Spring Training facility in Fort Myers…He weighs in on the signing: “It’s a dream come true to have been given this opportunity to play because of the success of recent Cuban players. It’s an honor and privilege. It allows me to be a part of such a historical organization and I’m just ecstatic to be here.’

Coming up, not even an off-day to give us a break from all this LOSING–Next one is Thursday. And how freaking SAD is it that I am wishing for an off-day. I HATE off-days…See? This is what this team has done to me this year…

And because it would have to be, That Clay Person takes the start tonight, kicking off 3 against Toronto. He is opposed by J. A. Happ. I fully expect Buchholz will give up something like 8 runs tonight. And J.A. Happ will be made to look like Cy Young.

    Outstanding. 1st pitch: 7:10pm…
