    Red Sox 1, Toronto 14:
Is This What Rock Bottom Feels Like?

Posted by Christine E. at 5:57 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Yes, this is gonna be a cranky rant, because right now I am so aggravated I want to SPIT…

Because, honestly, I am not sure how much worse it can get. And I know, I shouldn’t say that, because the Sox will now rattle off a 22 game LOSING streak and end up with a 100 loses the season AFTER winning the World Series.

Has a team ever gone from “worst to first to worst” in the span of 3 seasons before?

Truly, the only way last night could have been worse is if the Sox had been no hit. But no, they managed to scrape together a run on 5 hits in the contest…

But when That Clay Person and Felix Doubront combined for THIRTEEN F***ING RUNS in 5.2 inning of work. Seven for Buchholz and 6 for Doubront. Out-freaking-standing. Shockingly Badenhop didn’t allow the 2 runs he inherited to score, because that is usually what HE does…

Crap needs to happen this week. Ben needs to dump all the dead weight, Buchholz, Doubront, Badenhop, Mujica, and anyone else…GONE. NOW.

But PLEASE don’t trade Jon Lester. And please please please don’t trade him for freaking Matt Kemp and his 100+ million $ salary. And if you ARE going to trade Lester and/or Lackey, you are INSANE if you trade them to an AL East team. IN-SANE…

But I suspect that Jon Lester wil be wearing another uniform on Friday and Buchholtz et al will not…And I am sorry, but the whole “trade Lester now, get a TON a prospects, and then re-sign him in the offseason” is flawed logic–and I just cannot see it happening. The Sox won’t pay him now–I doubt they will pay him 3-4 months from now…

I am just so fracking frustrated. I KNOW the 2014 campaign is lost–and in A LOT of ways far worse than 2012. I just reallyREALLY hope the right moves for the future are made this week…

And at this point, I don’t want another 5-7-10 game winning streak that will give any of us any kind of hope that this is anything than what it is. A perfect storm kind of a season, where the young ‘uns didn’t develop quite as fast as management expected them to, and where the veterans as a whole under performed. While the former could have been expected, you cannot really predict the latter…

But the REALLY big concern is Dustin Pedroia. This guy is supposed to be the heart and soul of the team, and you never really hear about him that often anymore. Not only is THAT concerning, but the 29 point BA drop this year, and the steady decline in OPS since 2011…What is going on there?

Coming up: Game 2 against Toronto, against the starter who one-hit them last week…You know, the Cy Young Candidate no one has ever heard of, Marcus Stroman? Yeah, me too–UGH…Rubby De La Rosa takes the bump in opposition. 1st pitch 7:10pm…
