    Red Sox 11, Astros 0:
    That’s it. I’m Checking for Pods…

Posted by Christine E. at 2:08 pm in General No Comments

    OK.

I know it’s the Astros, and before them the White Sox, and they suck, but seeing as the Sox probably haven’t been able to beat pretty much ANYONE as of late, the fact they have taken 2 out of 3 from BOTH teams, is kinds weird…

Add to that the fact That Clay Person pitched a COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT, while the Sox scored ELEVEN runs…

The rest of his line: 109 pitches, 76 for strikes, giving up 3 hits, while walking zero, throwing a wild pitch, and striking out 12 (a career high)…

And how bout that the Sox are 4-1 since they DFA’ed AJ Pierzynski on Wednesday…Could he REALLY have been that much of a malcontent/ distraction/cancer/disaster/etc/etc? From what I have been reading, apparently so. It got so bad that some players wouldn’t even visit other players whose lockers were near his, and a number of them complained to management. Then there was the whole “everyone wanted David Ross to catch them” thing…

I never wanted him, and I was quite vocal about that. Oh, and here too… And people told me that I was overreacting, that he was the type of player people just hated when they played against them, that he was the guy you wanted on your team.

    Yeah. OK. NOT.

And please do not think for one moment that this is me saying that the decent play in the last week means anything remotely like I am thinking “this is it! This is the turning point for the Sox!” Cause I don’t. Someone actually accused ME of being a pink hat last week, because I DIDN’T have the blind devotion of “They’re gonna come back, I just KNOW it”

No, I think the Sox are pretty much done for 2014. All I want now is for them to play the kids, not embarrass themselves too much, and make baseball fun. And if they can end up with a better record than the Skanks for the 2014, well, that would be the icing on the cake…

Oh, and despite the fact that Shane Victorino was scratched from his rehab on Saturday with Single A Lowell, he may actually be activated to the bigs on Friday. Love the man, but I’ll believe it when I see it…

Speaking of believing it when I see it: The Most Interesting Man on the Red Sox has struck again, with a 5 for 5 performance in yesterday’s contest, including a lead-off home. Honestly, how can you not love this kid????

So now there is no relevant baseball until Friday (yeah, I know, it can be argued there hasn’t been any relevant baseball for the Sox since last year…) and we have the “New and Improved and really really cool Home Run Derby tonight” Ya know what would improve it? Buying a roll of duct tape, and using the WHOLE. FRACKING. THING. On Chris Berman, cause something HAS to be done about the whole infernal “Back Back Back” things he does…

And then we have the All-Star Game (Cause this year it counts!) which is just a sad reminder of how far the Sox have fallen after being World Series Champions. Lester and Koji. THAT’S IT…

But one good thing about that. Everyone can rest and relax, and get their game face on for Friday night, when the 2014 campaign resumes in the Fens against Kansas City…

Less suckage would not be unwelcome for the 2nd half…
