    Red Sox 5, Tigers 3:
    Is that a….dare I say it….WIN???

Posted by Christine E. at 6:47 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

And this is so fracking sad sad SAD that it’s shocking–and that I get all ridiculously happy about it. Maybe this is how Houston Astros fans feel like all the time…UGH…

So John Lackey, with his 7th win, is STILL the only Sox starter with a winning record for the 2014 campaign. And if he continues to pitch the way he has been, that trend may continue. Although, to be fair, Jon Lester usually ends pitching with backup from an anemic offense. Most of the time anyway…

Lackey’s line: 8 IP, giving up 3 runs (2 earned, thanks to an error by Xander Bogaerts in the 7th) while walking 1 and striking out 5

And thanks to a solo shot by Mike Napoli is his first game back from being on the DL, the Sox tied it in the 6th. But the best part of the entire contest is that David Ortiz hit a 3-run homer to win the game in the 9th. Off…Wait for it…Joba Chamberlain…ha ha ha ha ha…

So, since coming off that reallyREALLY nice 7 game winning streak, which was preceded by the very crappy 10 game losing streak, the Sox are 1-6…6 games under .500, and are stuck in 4th place, 9 games behind the still winning Toronto Blue Jays…And there are 100 games to go…

Yes, folks, we are still stuck in that weird ass alternate reality. One that may even contain an All-Star-less Big Papi. Yep. As insane as it sounds, the Large Father is currently 2nd in the DH voting, trailing by nearly 400K votes behind the Oreo’s Nelson Cruz. Outstanding…

You can still vote online until Thursday, July 3rd at 11:59pm ET, blah blah, 25 votes per e-mail blah blah, 10 extra bonus votes, blah blah…

And WHY THE FRACK do people still think Robinson Cano is all that and a bag of chips??? His TEAMMATE (Mariano Rivera) said he’s rather Dustin Pedroia on 2nd base with the game on the line. So why, why, WHY is his ahead of Ian Kinsler (who is a legitimately GOOD 2nd baseman) and Pedey? Guess it’s more alternate reality crap…

Another simulated game for That Clay Person this weekend, 48 pitches, doing well his hyper extended knee feeling no issues (cough cough). John Farrell is talking a rehab assignment, but not sure when. I think a couple weeks of intensive therapy or something may help as well. Don’t do it John Farrell, don’t get sucked into head case world…

But Mookie Betts was promoted to Pawtucket last week, and I cannot WAIT until we get to see him in the bigs… And so far, he is hitting .286 with a homer and a .804 OPS. And his walk-up music? Welcome to the Jungle. LOVE that….

Three more days and I’ll be making a long-overdue pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It will also be my daughter’s first trip to Fenway Park, and it looks like John Lester will be getting the start for the Sox… Whoo Hoo!

Coming up: The Sox head to Baltimore for 3 against the Oreos, who are currently #2 in the division. Jake Peavey gets the nod against Bud Norris. Please, baseball gods, please don’t let the Sox lose against some guy named Bud. 1st pitch: 7:05pm

Very, very nice! I LOVE the Papo Allosaurus (Anyone seen their dragon line? To die for.), and Carnegie is quite up my alley as well. I’ve never gotten my hands on a Procon before though. Schleich do#28&ens17;t interest me much.
