June 4, 2014: Boston Red Sox Star Pitcher Jon Lester “Putts for Miracles” with Local Pediatric Cancer Patients
Last Wednesday May 28th, Boston Red Sox star and cancer survivor Jon Lester joined area pediatric cancer patients from the Jimmy Fund Clinic to “Putt for Miracles” on a traveling putting green.
The “Tee Off” event kick-started a week-long effort by Expect Miracles Foundation to raise funds for youth and families affected by cancer. In honor of National Cancer Survivor Day on June 1, the portable putting green will make stops throughout the city through June 6, allowing participants to putt to win a free lunch while donating a suggested $10 for the cause. All participants will be entered to win a VIP Red Sox experience.
Funds raised will help support Expect Miracle Foundation’s “Kids Golf Day” at Fenway Park on July 16, a community event held for children impacted by cancer and their families, focused on helping patients, families and survivors escape the day-to-day challenges of the disease during a fun-filled day at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark.
