Red Sox 4, Tampa Bay 0:
    Tampa Bay Who???

Posted by Christine E. at 6:03 pm in Baseball,Old Friends,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

When you have JUST ABOUT HAD IT with the annoying and petty other team with their whiny 6.8 fans…

When there are a million and 15 Red Sox players and managers who get thrown from games all weekend, for various and sundry reasons, despite the fact that it was fracking Tampa Bay pitching spent Friday and Saturday hitting Red Sox batters at will…(although the cranky Texan got one in yesterday…)

What do you do? How do you retaliate?? You win, and you WIN BIG. A sweep is about as giant of a F*ck you as you can get. And I will take that any day of the week.

And holy buckets, how the HELL did Tampa Bay usurp the Skanks as the biggest rivals of the Sox??? Weirdness. But there will Nev-A Ev-A be a team I hate more than the Skanks, even if they are rather boring these days…

Jon Lester has finally hit .500 in the W-L column with his 6th win of the 2014 campaign, and it was a gem: 7 brilliant innings of 4-hit shutout ball, striking out 12, and walking 1. He threw 122 pitches, 73 for strikes…

And the Sox need to sign him to an extension…NOW.

So now the Sox have won SEVEN in a row…but are still 2 games below .500…Let’s hope this winning trend continues, cause the swing the other way sucks…BAD…

So the babies are coming up big these days, with Brock Holt making a compelling case for leadoff man, going 4 for 4 with 4 doubles, a walk, a stolen base, a run scored and 2 RBI. All while playing 1st base for the first time in his career. Yeah, I would say that’s compelling…And I know, I know, it’s a small sample size, and it will probably level out. But what if it doesn’t? Yep. Compelling…

And he may be at first for a while, as Mike Napoli is still on the DL for at least another week, and it’s looking like Mike Carp will be joining him, with a fractured right foot…

Gavin Cecchini and Alex Hassan made their major league debuts is yesterday’s contest, and both recorded their first major league hits (a double and a single, respectively) as well…

And how ‘bout Rubby De La Rosa in his Red Sox debut?? 7IP, 4-hitter with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Uh, Clay Buchholtz WHO?

Chances are very good that Stephen Drew will be activated for tonight’s game in Cleveland. I suspect Cecchini or Hassan will be making the trip back to Pawtucket to make room…

Coming up: 9 game road trip, kicking it off with 3 against Tito’s Cleveland Indians. John Lackey goes for his 7th win of the season, opposed by old friend Justin Masterson. 1st pitch: 7:05pm.
