    Red Sox 5, Rangers 2:
    Just…Baseball being Baseball…

    I have said this before.

Anything can happen in baseball, and usually does. One day you lose 15-0, and it would take an act of Congress to get a run to cross the plate; the next night, the offense wakes up, and you get a 6-run 6th or 7th. She is a fickle mistress, and just when you think you have it all figured out…uh huh…something batsh*t crazy happens that knocks you on your ass (September 2012, anyone?).

So the fact the Sox were 1 out away from being no hit by Yu Darvish, only to be saved from THAT embarrassment from Big Papi’s single, and then the Sox come back and back solid pitching from Jon Lester and John Lackey for the 2 wins, is not super surprising…Even one of the leading sports betting sites, TopBettingReviews.com, predicted these matchups over the weekend were anybody’s contest to win. Fortunately, the Sox came out on top, which helped take the edge off Friday night’s debacle…

But what is pretty surprising, is the major amount of raw suckage we are seeing from That Clay Person. No, a 2-3 Record isn’t TERRIBLE, considering the way the Sox have been playing this year. But the 6.44 ERA? and that he has pitched an average of 5 innings in each start this year?

Or how about the fact that his record in 2013, despite the bad neck/shoulder/back thing that limited him to 16 starts he was was 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA? At this rate, he is projected to end the season with a 9-13 record–and a 6.44 ERA. Thats WORSE than the John Lackey of 2011…And I am not buying the whole “building up arm strength” stuff. He has made 7 starts in the regular season, and a bunch of starts in Spring Training. It shouldn’t be taking this long. Either he is hurt and no one wants to say that, or he is being a head case, and is afraid of getting hurt, so he is being tentative…in either case, there is a problem here, and it needs to get resolved…NOW…

So after yesterday’s win, the Sox are ABOVE .500 since Day 4 of the season. And I reallyREALLY hope the almost no-no on Friday night was the wake-up call they need to get back on track…and what might have missed in all the brouhaha, they have won 6 of their last 9. If they can continue to do that, they will end up where they need to be..

And, have you looked at the AL East lately? The Oreos are in sole possession of 1st place, 1.5 games ahead of the Skanks, who have started struggling as of late) the Sox are in 3rd, a 1/2 game behind the Skanks, and 2 behind the Cookies. Then ether is Toronto 3.5 Games behind and finally Tampa Bay, who are 5.5 Games behind. Check for pods folks, this is gonna be one those kinds of campaigns…

So The Large Father is going to appeal the decision made in the 7th inning of Friday Night’s game where when he reached base, it was credited as an error, rather than a hit, keeping Darvish’s no-no intact–at least until 8 2/3 into the game. Now that it didn’t happen, he wants it changed to a hit. Although he does admit he would not be filing this appeal if the no-hitter has been completed. Seems kinda petty to me..In the grand scheme of things, does it REALLY matter????

Coming up: ANOTHER off day, and then the Sox head to Minnesota for 3. Felix Doubront gets the 1st start of the series, opposed by Ricky Nolasco, who appears to be doing about as crappy as Felix is this year. This should be fun. 1st pitch: 8:10pm.
