    September 5, 2013: Red Sox/Skanks:
    4 Days In September, 2013…

So I’m talking to my friend Paul from Boston yesterday, and he starts talking about the Skanks, and how he is still concerned about them. So I’m laughing at the ridiculous-ness of this. Until I look at the Wild Card Standings. They are currently in 2nd place, 2.5 games behind Tampa Bay.  Which means that they COULD get to the one game tie breaker against Tampa Bay at the beginning of October…

    Oh FRACK.

And of course I am at the beach this weekend–cause I am always at the beach when the Sox play the Skanks…and usually it doesn’t end well…The Boston Massacre in August of 2009? At the Beach.

So now, Paul has got me all freaked out that there is a possibility, however remote, that there could be repercussions here. Holy HELL!

So, I wasn’t sure I would get to it; it now NEEDS to happen…

    To the Blackboard!

To Recap: Right now, the Sox are 8 games ahead of the Skanks in the Division. Their Magic # is 15…

If the Sox Win 4: (Holy Buckets! that WOULD be cool–however unlikely) The Sox would be TWELVE games ahead of the Skanks–and their Magic # would be 7–I think it would be safe to say that they would be DONE.

If the Sox Win 3: (Still a good outcome–although not as soul crushing for the Skanks.) The Sox would be 10 games ahead in the Division, Magic # of 9.

If the Sox Win 2: (Still acceptable) Nothing Changes–the Sox and Skanks are still 8 games apart. Magic # 11.

If the Sox Win 1: (Won’t be happy, they are a better team than this) The Lead drops to 6. Magic #13

If the Sox are Swept: (Holy FRACK, this will suck OUT LOUD–in about 13 different colors): There will be a mere 4 games between them, with 17 to play…Magic # would remain 15

My prediction? The Sox will take 2 this weekend. And I have no basis for that prediction other than a semi educated guess…But then again, my prognostication skills are legendary–legendarily BAD…

Coming up: Game 1 of 4. Jake Peavy takes the mound in Game 1 at The Stadium, opposed by Ivan Nova. 1st pitch: 7:05pm…

Here we go. Let’s do this..
