    Red Sox 4, Mariners 11:
Uh, What the FRACK just happened here?

Posted by Christine E. at 5:19 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

I reallyREALLY hate Left Coast Games.

On the weekends, I’ll admit, I don’t mind them as much, because I can stay up later, and actually watch more of the game, because all of the normal day to day stuff in my life is pretty much wrapped up by 9 nor 10…

    But during the week–they SUCK.

Take last night–While I expected King Felix to give the Sox a run for their money, but I figured Jon Lester, who has a brilliant outing last time (1 run in 7 innings of work) would at least keep the Sox in it…and when I looked at the score around 11:30ish, it was 3-2, Mariners, but it was close–certainly surmountable.

    Well, So much for close…

To be fair, Alex Wilson (who is much awful-er that he appears on paper) allowed the 2 runners he inherited to score…BUT, the Sox need more from one of their aces, (especially when the other is on the DL),  than 5 innings of 9 hit, 5 run ball…

The rest of his line: 112 pitches, 73 for strikes, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, and a homer, bringing his record to 8-5 with a 4.60 ERA. And, adding fuel to the fire was Wilson and Jose De La Torre each chipped in with 3 runs of their own…

    Holy Hell…

And while we are at it, why on EARTH is one of the BEST pitchers in baseball still with one of the WORST teams in baseball? It is REALLY about loyalty? The disparity of that probably intrigues and frustrates the hell out of baseball handicappers, but to me, it just seems like a huge waste…

Speaking of waste, stick a fork in Andrew Miller–he’s done. At least for the rest of the season, as he requires surgery on the ligament damage on the top of his left foot after twisting it in the 7th inning of Saturday’s game. Alfredo Aceves has been called up to take Miller’s spot in the bullpen…fracking wonderful…

BUT, despite dropping the last 3 out of 4 on this road trip, the Sox STILL have the best record in the AL–go figure…

You have until Thursday at 4:00pm to vote Koji Uehara in on The Final Vote to the All-Star game, where he would join David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, and That Clay Person. He is 2-0 with a 1.95 ERA in 39 appearances this year…You can vote by text using “VOTE” and texting it to 89269, with standard message and data rates applying as usual. You can also vote online here (MLB.com)

Speaking of That Clay Person–it looks like he might FINALLY be back on track–bullpens are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday, and if there are no after effects (like his arm falls off or something), he is expected to have a minor league rehab start on Sunday. I expect he’ll need at least 2, maybe 3, and he will hopefully be back. HOPEFULLY…

Coming up: Game 2 of the 4 game series against Seattle, Allen Webster goes for his 2nd major league win, opposed by Hisashi Iwakuma, who is the owner of a sparkling 2.60 ERA. Let’s hope for a reverse lock…
