    November 26, 2012: Vanessa Carlton to Headline
    3rd Annual Kevin Youkilis Fundraiser

    Signing on to help raise money for kids in need, singer, songwriter Vanessa Carlton will join former Boston Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis at the third annual Youk’s Kids Not Your Average Idol event, presented by New Balance, taking place next Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Royale in Boston’s Theater District.

    Hosted by Sarah Colonna and Josh Wolf of Chelsea Lately, Not Your Average Idol will feature musical performances, comedy and much more, all designed to raise money to support Youk’s Kids.

    The evening will also feature performances from singer, songwriter Mike Burke, AHMIR, one of the most popular R&B groups on YouTube, Faces on Film, Boston recording artist Will Dailey with Audrey Ryan, and the Colonial Jazz Band.

    The event will also feature food tastings from many of Boston’s top restaurants, including Davio’s, Restaurant dante & Il Casale, Happy’s Bar + Kitchen, Island Creek Oysters, The Fireplace, Pigalle, Tremont 647, Sweet Basil, The Pantry and Sweet.

    Expected to attend are Kevin and Julie Youkilis, Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Carpenter, New England Patriots linebacker Eric Alexander, Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins, NESN’s Jenny Dell, Person of Interest’s Kevin Chapman, and former New England Patriot player Kevin Falk, among others.

    Guests will have the opportunity to stroll down the Youk’s Kids Walk of Fame, where they can bid on a celebrity-decorated holiday wreaths from supporters of Youk’s Kids, including Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins, Gavin DeGraw, NESN’s Jenny Dell, former New England Patriot’s Players Kevin Faulk and Doug Flutie, Chelsea Handler, Jordan Knight, Mike O’Malley, Jason & Catherine Varitek, Tom and Gisele Brady and of course Kevin and Julie Youkilis.

    A special silent auction features a host of great items, including a 5-day stay in Cancun, Mexico, a bowling party at Kings with Wally The GreenBrady Wreath Monster, VIP tickets to a taping of Chelsea Lately, a chef tasting a Blue Ginger, a set of game-worn catchers gear autographed by Jason Varitek, a pair of authentic, autographed Kevin Youkilis #20 jersey’s – one Red Sox and one White Sox, a menorah autographed by Adam Sandler and much more. The auction is currently live and bids can be made online.

    Youk’s Kids is a non-profit organization founded by former Red Sox 3rd baseman Kevin Youkilis. The organization aims to create a community of support, increase awareness, and advocate for the health and well-being of children in need. The organization supports Josh Cares, a surrogacy program for critically-ill children in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, at-risk youth at the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain, MA; and Athletes for Heroes, a program that provides grants to the minor children of fallen or severely disabled men and women of service so that they might participate in team and academic enrichment activities.
