    October 9, 2012:
    Post Season Predictions

Posted by Christine E. at 4:56 pm in Baseball,Old Friends,Random Thoughts Comment (1)

As we are neck deep into the ALDS, some teams are already on the precipice. Let’s look at my predictions for the Postseason 2012.

And, as always, my knack for prediction is fairly abysmal, so take them for what they are worth…

Skanks vs Oreos: The series is tied 1-1.

As much of the feel good story as the Cookies are (and the most compelling argument for the world ending in 2012, Dick Clark dying, notwithstanding…) I just don’t think they have the stones to get past the Skanks. Although them winning Game #2 was certainly a step in the right direction, the next 2 games(or 3, if they need it)are being played at the Stadium–and that can only help the Skanks.

Prediction (As much as it pains me): Skanks in 4.

Cardinals vs Nationals: The series is tied 1-1.

Of the 4 series, this seems to be the one that is most evenly matched, so it’s really anyone’s series to win. If Stephen Strasberg hadn’t been (stupidly) shut down, I would say the National would have been a lock, but the Cardinals just don’t quit, so it will certainly be an interesting series to watch.  But, ultimately, The Nationals have the best record in all of baseball (yeah, go back and read that again), and have proven time and time again this year, they are here to win–And I have to pick someone…

    Prediction: Nationals in 5.

Giants vs the Reds: Reds Lead the Series 2-0.

Holy Hell, WHEN is the last time Cincinnati was at the dance? Glad you asked: 1995. And right now, they look like one of those teams that has “it”–the elusive mojo some teams have in the postseason where it just seems like…destiny. The fact that they are outscoring the Giants 14-2 in 2 games doesn’t hurt either. So the Giants better get cracking, or, by this time tomorrow, they will be sitting at home watching the Reds play someone in the NLCS…

    Prediction: Reds in 3.

Tigers vs A’s: Tigers lead the Series 2-0.

Oakland was one of the feel good stories for 2012, and with a bunch of former Red Sox players (most notably Josh Reddick, whom the Sox should have NEVER traded), they were the team I was rooting for most. I they will win at least 1, possibly 2 (depending on where Verlander shows up–and how good he is that night) But, unless they channel the 2004 Red Sox (whom they have been compared to), they are going to playing golf by this time tomorrow…

    Prediction: Tigers in 4.

Once the field shakes out, I’ll post my Predictions for the ALCS/NLCS, and the World Series…
