    October 8, 2012:
You say the Postseason, I say the Offseason…

Posted by Christine E. at 4:42 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

So we are 4 days into the Offseason for the Red Sox, and I would say they are definitely off to a good start–sort of…

While I commend the quick resolution of the whole Bobby Valentine Debacle–I guess my big question is: Why didn’t it happen sooner? Or, more to the point, why did it happen at all?

I know, I know, King Larry deigned it so, and it happened. And what I find most interesting (although not super surprising) is the lack of accountability for this god-awful decision. In the last few days, they have been asked, in all manner and variety, why Bobby was not fired sooner, and why was the decision made the first place. And they have all danced around it…refusing to come right out and say what everyone else in the world has been saying for MONTHS:

    We F#&%ed up–BIG TIME…

They say children learn bad behavior from their parents. Maybe the unwillingness for the Red Sox Ownership to admit THEIR mistakes, permeates the whole organization? Just a thought…

And here is another thought. And I know there is still time yet, but they have treated Bobby Valentine, who contributed NOTHING positive to the Red Sox 2012 Campaign, and in fact, stirred up A LOT of nonsense throughout the year, with more decency than they did Tito Francona, who, I guess really didn’t do much for the Boston Red Sox, only a .574 win percentage, TWO World Series Rings, and a bunch of postseason appearances…

    Yeah, not much at all…

But Tito landed on his feet, and will be returning to manage the game he loves so much, as the new skipper of the Cleveland Indians. They are a very lucky team, and I wish him tons of success…

And, in case you were wondering, Tito will return to the Fens for 4 games May 23-26, 2013. And if anyone even THINKS of booing him…

So, The Oreos did (what I thought was) the impossible. They beat the Rangers in the 1 game sudden death match on Friday to advance to the ALDS vs the Skanks. Now here comes the REALLY impossible. They need to win 3 out of 5, when no one thinks there is a snowballs chance in hell of that actually happening. And they are already at a deficit, losing the 1st contest last night 7-2…They play again tonight on TBS at 8:00pm…

Finally, StadiumJourney, a website which publishes reviews of sports venues all over the world,  recently posted a new review of the Red Sox experience at Fenway Park.  Of course the ranking was nearly perfect–anyone who has ever been there can tell you that.  You can check out the complete review here

Coming up: While the 2013 Sox Spring Training Schedule has not been released yet, we can take a pretty educated guess based on last year’s Pitchers and Catchers reporting date of February 19. I’ll guess that it will be on or around February 17, 2013. So, going with that day, it is 132 days to P & C’s…

That’s not TOO bad, is it? OK, maybe a little…
