    Red Sox 5, Tigers 7:
    Still Can’t Slam the Door

OK, now let me get this straight. Aaron Cook, who has had MAYBE one good start since being in the rotation (not counting the game where he had his leg gouged, which STARTED out OK), and yet, they keep trotting him out, when Franklin Morales, who was damn near BRILLIANT when he was in the rotation, continues to whither away in the bullpen..

And Cook’s good times just keep rolling with THIS abysmal line: 4 2/3 IP, throwing 86 pitches, 61 for strikes, giving up 6 runs on 8 hits (including 2 homers) It was literally 1-1 and I turned away for like 2 minutes, and I looked back and it was 6-1..which leaves him with a 2-5 record with a 5.24 ERA–Yikes! We already got rid of John Lackey for the 2012 campaign, did we really need his replacement?

Oh, and in case you were wondering: Morales has a 2-2 record, with a 3.32 ERA in 5 starts, and in the last week, he has pitched 2 1/3 innings–of 1-hit ball with 2 strikeouts…

So, now that Craig Breslow has been reacquired, can we PLEASE get Cook out and Morales back into the rotation? Please?

And the “Kevin Brown, I am a complete idiot” award goes to Ryan Sweeney, who, by punching a wall in frustration the other night, managed to pretty much end his season with a broken knuckle. It’s bad enough the Sox injure themselves left and right, but when its done accidently on purpose..UGH. Silver lining IS the fact that Ryan Kalish has be called back up to play in his stead…STILL waiting for Kalish’s monster season–it WILL happen…

So, the Sox were going to pack up Josh Beckett, Jake, and Kelly Shoppach to Texas, but its unclear who they were going to get in return. Knowing Ben’s “knack” for getting the lesser end of the deal–probably not much. But could you imagine how that would impact the Rangers? They already have a locked and loaded and own the 2nd best record in baseball right now..Holy Buckets, they would have been almost untouchable. Because you know Beckett would have turned it around and been brilliant…

But of course he stayed, and was cruising toward a no-no, and then his back started hurting, and he had to leave the game…whaaa whaaa. It’s still up in the air, as to whether he will make his next scheduled start on Sunday night…

And speaking of the injured, here is a not-so-neato stat: Daniel Nava is the 23rd member of the Boston Red Sox to go on the DL this season. His injury? A sprained left wrist. And guess what, 23 breaks the baseball record for most players on the DL in 1 season…great…

And it doesn’t look any better in the future: Scott Atchison has torn ulnar collateral ligament, and will be seeing elbow specialist Dr. James Andrews– so its all but guaranteed that Tommy John will be in order, so now HE is done as well…

Honestly, how can this many people be injured???

Coming up: a 4-game series with Minnesota kicks off tonight, with Jon Lester getting the start. Let’s hope we get the very good Jon Lester, rather than this horribly awful Jon Lester. He is opposed by Sam Deduno. 1st pitch 7:10pm
