Red Sox 10, White Sox 1:
    I Heart Cody Ross

Posted by Christine E. at 4:42 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Holy Buckets!  I have said it before, and I will say it again–Cody Ross is the Mike Lowell of this 2012 ballclub–whenever something good is going on, he is smack dab in the middle of it.

This was never more apparent than his 6 RBI night last night, which consisted of TWO 3-run shots

And fortunately, Jacoby Ellsbury hasn’t missed a beat, going 3 for 4 last night, and hitting .407 with 3 doubles and 5 runs since his return on Friday…SO glad to have you back Jake!

Apparently, the time off did Felix Doubront good, as the winningest pitcher of the starting rotation got his 10th win with 6 innings of 1-run ball.

The rest of his line:  Throwing 96 pitches, 58 for strikes, Doubront gave up 4 hits while walking 3 and striking out 2…

Even Carl Crawford is doing well, going 1 for 3 with a strikeout in the #2 hole last night.  And while I am pleasantly surprised, and hope the trend continues, what happens when he doesn’t get his way?

And, frankly, I think Carl needs to let his bat do the talking, but it seems everything that comes out of his mouth makes his sound like a petulant child–and I especially found the whole throwing Terry Francona under the bus particularly distasteful with regard to being moved to the #7 spot after going 0-7 with 4 strikeouts:  “…You spend $142 million on somebody, you have to live and die with them. You didn’t really give me a chance. After two days, that’s really never happened. My confidence just went down. It was gone. What do you expect? What’s wrong with one month? If I’m terrible after one month, then yeah. Who spends $142 million and throws a guy in the seven-hole and leaves him there? It doesn’t make sense to me…I didn’t feel like I had the manager’s confidence. I don’t know about the organization, but I don’t try and look past the manager, so I feel like I didn’t have the manager’s confidence, therefore I started to think something was wrong with me, and it just snowballed after that. It had a trickle-down effect, and it just got worse and worse as the days went by.”

    Whine Whine Whine…

And I hear the big rumor around town is Carl Crawford to the Marlins for Hanley Ramirez and Heath Bell.  I like the Heath Bell part, but Hanley?  UGH.  He is immature, and a clubhouse presence the Sox CERTAINLY do not need.  And I would think that the Sox would also have to eat a significant portion of the remainder of the $142 million contract they have with Carl Crawford…

More good news on the injury front. Dustin Pedroia is back tonight, after being on the DL for torquing his thumb, he will bat #3…

Let’s hope Big Papi, on the DL for the Achilles issue, will be back soon, because it would really be nice to see what this team can do with everyone healthy.  I could seen them going on a nice tear, maybe catch up in the standings a bit.  Because, frankly, before the All-Star break was downright freaking painful to watch…

Coming up:  The Sox look to take 3 out of 4 against the Pale Hose, with That Clay Person taking the mound, hoping for his 9th win of the season, opposed by Jose Quintana.  1st pitch 7:10pm
