    April 5, 2012:
    Happy Opening Day—and a Giveaway!

Posted by Christine E. at 10:05 am in Baseball,Giveaways,Red Sox Comments (6)

Holy Buckets! We have been waiting oh so very long for this day to arrive–and it’s finally here. In a few short hours the Sox will take the field, and hopefully beat the snot out of the Tigers. Let’s hope that the actual event is as good as we hope for…

And just because I like to make predictions that more often than not don’t happen (although the ubiquitous “Ryan Kalish will take over RF and have a monster year” prediction I keep making WILL happen!) I am predicting a 98 win season for the Sox–I am just hoping my sanity (not that I have all that much left to begin with) is still semi-intact…

And, in honor of the start of all things Red Sox Baseball, A+E Networks Home Entertainment/MLB Productions has provided me with some excellent DVD-type swag to give away…

    Here’s what I’ve got:

Boston vs Yankees: Baseball’s Greatest Games: 2004 ALCS Game 4. Don’t even need to explain this one: THE Steal, Bill Mueller’s hit to tie the game, and Big Papi’s walk off in the 12th to stop the slide, and start the greatest comeback in Baseball history–and the Red Sox 1st World Series Championship in 86 years…For more info, go here….

MLB Fall Classic at Fenway Park DVD: Boston Red Sox 2004 & 2007 World Series DVD. Another DVD that needs no explanation. The World Series Films for both of these mammoth events in Red Sox History. As owner of this one, I don’t have to tell you that it is MONDO good stuff…For more info, go here

I have 3 copies of EACH.

How do you win? Glad you asked. Leave a comment in a post, sharing your favorite memory of the Boston Red Sox–Any memory will do. Also indicate which DVD you would like to win, and your e-mail address, so I can contact you.

6 Winners will be chosen to receive a DVD–and I will do my best to accommodate your DVD selection–although you totally cannot go wrong with either selection.

You have until Tuesday, April 10th, to enter–and you can enter as many times as you wish–it just needs to be a different memory for each entry.

    Good Luck!

      Christine,

I guess my favorite Red Sox memory would be the first time I walked into Fenway. My friend Kelly led me up the ramp right behind home plate and there it was, the place I’d seen all my life and dreamed of going. Didn’t matter that it was raining and the game got postponed! Got to see a double header the next day! But seeing Fenway for the first time in person? I’m not an emotional guy, but that day? It was tough to keep it together. And it really doesn’t matter which DVD if I win. I’ll let you pick. Keep up the great work on the blog.

My favorite memory goes back to 1975 when i attended my first fenway game. Having never
even been to boston it was a double treat. Remember standing outside the player’s parking
lot getting autographs as they drove in, To be 13 again…..

Would love the greatest games dvd if i win.

      Go sox!

My favorite red sox memory is definitely watching the last game of the WS from a college dorm… in absolute shock.
i stood there for a long time. in shock.
      today was so horrible!
hoping the season gets better. you know. with hitting and pitching and stuff.

I have so many, it’s tough to pick just one. I’ve thought of all the great games I saw ….including seeing the unlikeliest of heroes get a walk off hit to stop all my Toronto based friends from being able to razz me all off-season as I wrote about here http://rsnalberta.blogspot.ca/2011/11/baseball-is-awesome-jeff-stone-game.html, or meeting Jim Rice in a pre game reception the day his jersey was retired: http://bit.ly/IdGqJ7, but I probably share my favorite memory with many other diehard Red Sox fans. It was the final out of the 2004 World Series. I had watched the 2003 ALCS with my son, and he cried himself to sleep after watching Wakefield give up the home run to Boone. I felt incredibly guilty, as not living in New England, there was no reason for my son to become a Red Sox fan other than me. But after Foulke flipped the ball to Mientkiewicz, he cried again, but this time for a very different reason, and it made being a lifelong Red Sox fan all worth it!

I have never been to Fenway, so all of my memories are from tv. Any game Pedro Martinez pitched in 2000 would be a great memory.

Dont have either dvd, so either would be fine.
