Tomorrow, Saturday, December 3rd, The Boston Amateur Baseball Network will host its 11th Annual Winter Baseball game, at Maplewood Park in Malden.

Benefitting Toys for Tots, the official charity of the US Marine Corp, for the 8th straight year, Winterball is a 9-inning baseball game fundraiser played the first weekend of December each year. Upwards of 100 adult amateur players from several local baseball leagues are expected to attend.

Batting Practice begins at 10:00am, with the Marines arriving at 10:30 to collect the toys, and then first pitch is 11:00am. Since inception, the average game temperature has been 39 degrees, with the 2010 contest kicking off at a balmy 41…

About Toys for Tots: The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

In addition, the objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
