    November 21, 2011:
To Hell in a Handbasket, Part 2…

Posted by Christine E. at 6:42 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

    Holy…Buckets! Bobby Valentine? REALLY? UGH…

This is a time when the Sox need to show their fans that they are clear, calm, and competent–and are looking to avoid more drama–I think we all had our fill of the nonsense that was September and most of October….

And Sox Management reallyREALLY thinks Bobby Valentine is the way to go? That the fan base will be happy and excited at this prospect? The man that has an ego the size of Nebraska, and motivates players by manipulation? BAD MOVE management…

And if that is the case, why was he not part of the original batch of interviews? You has 5, who had little or no experience, were going to select Dale Sveum, when Theo came in and swept out from under you (He was unveiled as the new Cubs skipper on Friday), and now its all pandemonium and a mad scrabble. You told Pete Mackanin he was out of the running, but you still had 3 viable candidates in Torey Lovullo, Sandy Alomar Jr., and Gene Lamont. And the week before, everyone was pretty adamant that they saw everyone they needed to see, and now we are 3 days from Ben Cherington’s self imposed deadline of Thanksgiving Day, and the Sox now seem to be grasping at straws…

And look like idiots–and not even the good kind…

Oh, and remember that November 1 deadline the Bud imposed to get Theo’s compensation package done, or he was going to step in? Well, now Theo and Ben are saying it won’t get done until sometime after December 8th because they are all “busy”. So exactly is this going to work in the Sox favor? The Cubs already have Theo–there is no leverage for the Sox to get anything better than $4.00 and 3 fungoe bats…Good job Red Sox…

So, as of the 2013 campaign, the Houston Astros are an American Leagues team, which means there will be A LOT more interleague play–and many more chances for DH’s like Davis Ortiz to bitch about how unfair it is…I hate interleague play as it is–now we get more…freaking wonderful…

And Justin Verlander wins the MVP, with Jacoby Ellsbury coming in 2nd. As I said on Facebook today: “Justin Verlander wins the MVP, with Jacoby Ellsbury in 2nd place…guess that whole “pitchers should not win the MVP” argument only applies to Pedro Martinez…” That is all I am going to say about THAT…

Finally, here is a cool article from fellow BBA-er Seedlings to Stars about Ryan Lavarnway, who is # 53 on S2S’s of the Top 100 prospects. It provides analysis on his strengths and weaknesses as a potential member of the Boston Red Sox. Check it out!

Coming up: The Sox Management is supposed to interview Valentine today…and with 136 Days to Opening Day, A Nation holds its breath, and hopes they get the Manager they deserve…
