Red Sox 12, Kansas City 5:
    Slogging through another one…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:24 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

Holy Buckets:  Is it just me, or have these games against KC been like walking uphill to school in the snow with bare feet–both ways?

Another game, another one that went on and on and on…

And it looks like Carlson Beltran will be traded to the Giants for a couple of players and some cash–Whoo Hoo! The Sox can do better than him, and as long as he is not going to beat up on them in the AL East, I could care less where he goes…

In his 1st at bat yesterday, Dustin Pedroia did what he narrowly missed doing the day before: Hit a homer, which means he is now at 24 games–which is the longest hitting streak of his career. While I think this is very cool for him, and its the longest streak in the majors this year, I am not going to start with the 56 game thing until he gets to about 50–then I will get excited at the prospect…And John Lackey did not totally suck–although he threw a lot of pitches (113, 78 for strikes) in his 5 2/3 innings. And he gave up at a lot of hits (11) including 2 homers. But he only gave you 4 runs (3 earned) while walking 1 and striking out 3. If it were not for the fact that the hitting has continued, he would probably not won this game–But I bet he felt good!

Every game I watch, this team reminds me more and more of the bashing team the Sox were in 2003–and how many times has this team won games, despite poor, or at least less than competent, pitching? Right now, Dustin Pedroia, Big Papi (Grand Slam last night and THREE doubles the night before) and Jacoby Ellsbury (has as many homers as freaking Adrian Gonzalez!) are ON FIRE and are carrying this team…

Another day, another back specialist: Despite the fact that everyone was encouraged by That Clay Person’s bullpen session earlier in the week, the Sox still want him to see yet another back specialist before he proceeds any further. Tito explains: “The only thing we really have today is that we want Buck to see one more specialist Friday (or) Monday-ish before we completely turn him loose. Just because, again, he’s starting to get aggressive. With everything that has gone on in there, we just want to make sure this kid is OK. When we get to it, we’ll let you know.” He will not throw again until after this exam…

Coming up: FINALLY! The end of the 47 game series (OK, it’s only been 4; it’s just felt like 47…) Josh Beckett takes the mound in the afternoon contest, opposed by Luke Hochevar. 1st pitch 1:35pm.
