I know Pittsburgh is playing better baseball than they have in a very long time, but this is certainly no reason why the Sox should have lost 2 out of 3 against them–pretty much just like they should not have lost 2 out of 3 to San Diego..
But the losing streak has been snapped at 4–and it looks like the Sox will not be faring as well in interleague play this year as they have in previous year….They are currently 5-6 for the 2011 campaign
Last years numbers? Glad you asked: 13-5…
Andrew Miller made his 2nd start in a Red Sox uniform, getting his 1st win with the ballclub in yesterday’s contest. Giving up 2 runs (one earned on 5 hits while walking 2, hitting a batter, and striking out 4, he threw 109 pitches, 72 for strikes, in his 6 inning of work.
Of course, the Sox could have done without the 2 errors committed in the game–one by Marco Scutaro, which lead to an unearned run, and the one by Josh Reddick. But I guess it’s better than the FOUR the Bucs had, which lead to 3 unearned runs by the Sox, and cost them the game….
Well, he has injured just about every other part of himself, why not his eye? Yep, we are talking about JD Drew, who fouled a ball off his eye during batting practice, leading to it being all bruised and swollen (as shiners are apt to do…) So he struck out in the 1st inning, and then was pulled from the game…Frankly, I hope they put him on the DL, because I am sick of hearing how “he’s gonna get hot, every year he goes on a tear, and carries the team” Yeah, OK….
Looks like Bobby Jenks is over his “Thing” for the time being, and will more than likely be activated before tomorrow’s game against the Phillies. Wonder who will be sent away to make room for him on the 25 man…Lets hope he last more than 4 games this time….
Coming up: After a 12 day rest, and a raging case of the flu, Josh Beckett will take the mound in Philadelphia tomorrow night. He will be opposed by Cliff Lee. And, provided Josh isn’t too rusty, this should be a great game–just hope I get to see it. Because, as was the case with the Pittsburgh games this weekend, I am in the blackout zone, so if my local cable doesn’t show the games, I cannot watch them on MLB TV either…The way things usually work out is I will get one game–we’ll see. 1st pitch 7:05pm…
