    June 25, 2011:
    All-Star Ballots–the 2011 Version

Posted by Christine E. at 8:50 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

OK, so I finally sat down and decided to do my All-Star Voting for the 2011 campaign. I personally think the whole “Vote 25 times per e-mail address” is completely bogus–it just done so they can say that someone has 5 million votes or something–I guess the people who run these things think that sound impressive, despite the fact that everyone knows its just a bunch of people with a bunch of e-mail addresses who just sit there and vote–and do not even get me started (again) on my whole theory that A-Fraud hires interns to do noting but vote for him…

And they have made it even MORE brainless to vote 25 times this year–you don’t even have to move off the voting page. You just type in a verification code (changes every time) 25 times, until you have reached the limit, and it won’t let you anymore. Anyway, I personally think folks should be allowed 1 vote–and if they want to do it one vote per e-mail address, that is OK to. But this mindless “same vote, times 25″ is crazy AND meaningless.

And, for some people, you know it doesn’t stop with just one e-mail address. Between work and Boston Red Thoughts and my personal e-mail addresses, I have at least 4 or 5 I use on a regular basis–and I am on the low end. And, in case you were wondering, no, I only used one. I did my baseball duty, and voted 25 times–with a single e-mail address.

I guess I should preface the list of my votes with the fact that I consider the All Star game to be a complete popularity contest. I know it “counts” for something, but I want to see my favorite players playing–so, for me, the All-Star ballot is about who I LIKE, not necessarily the player I would choose if I was selecting an actual team to play an actual game. And most of the time my selections are Red Sox players–not always–but most of the time…which explains by choice of Sam Fuld over JD Drew in the outfield in the AL…

The rest are the rest, and the players whom I would like to see in Arizona on July 12, 2011:

    American League:

1st Base – Adrian Gonzalez (Boston Red Sox)
2nd Base – Dustin Pedroia (Boston Red Sox)
Shortstop – Marco Scutaro (Boston Red Sox)
3rd Base – Kevin Youkilis (Boston Red Sox)
Catcher – Jarrod Saltalamacchia (Boston Red Sox)
DH – David Ortiz (Boston Red Sox)
Outfield – Carl Crawford (Boston Red Sox)
Outfield – Jacoby Ellsbury (Boston Red Sox)
Outfield – Sam Fuld (Tampa Bay)

    National League:

1st Base – Carlos Pena (Chicago Cubs)
2nd Base – Bill Hall (San Francisco Giants)
Shortstop – Troy Tulowitzki (Colorado Rockies)
3rd Base – David Wright (New York Mets)
Catcher – Yadier Molina (St. Louis Cardinals)
Outfield – Lance Berkman (St. Louis Cardinals)
Outfield – Matt Holliday (St. Louis Cardinals)
Outfield – Matt Kemp (LA Dodgers)

And you still have until 11:59PM EST on Thursday June 30th to place your votes…so get to it!
