Red Sox 2, Tampa Bay 3:
    Worst in Baseball…

Posted by Christine E. at 6:47 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

Yep, with last night’s loss, the Sox are now dead last–in the AL East, as well as in all of Baseball…Their record stands at 2-9, which is a .181 win percentage…Holy. Buckets.

I know our federal government is busy and all–but could you perhaps pass a law, or a bill or something, so the Sox can win some baseball games? Because honestly, it seems like it’s going to take a freaking ACT OF CONGRESS to make this happen…

Last night Jon Lester pitched a perfectly good game–he went 7 strong, throwing 109 pitches, 67 for strikes (I missed Jerry Remy’s pitch count prediction contest on Facebook by ONE–I said 108) giving up 3 runs on 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out 8….And Daniel Bard and Bobby Jenks chipped in with 2 scoreless innings of work, with Bard giving up a hit, and Jenks striking out 1…

Learn something new every day: Kevin Youkilis started his 1st game as DH in his career last night, which surprised the heck out of me….I thought he had DH’ed before, but while he has played 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and even left field (much to his chagrin) he has never done the Designated Hitter thing…He went 1-3 with a strikeout…

Apparently, he DID leave it all out o the field–in TAMPA BAY…How ironic is it that Carl Crawford was awarded his Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards for his work with the Rays in 2010–what’s his batting average now? Glad you asked–.152 (yes, like a dollar and fifty two cents) with ONE RBI….freaking wonderful….

And once again, it was a night when players got on base, but they could not score any runs–last night they were 1-7 with runners in scoring position–and for the season they are .192–or 20 for 104…UGH…

Was talking to my friend Paul from Boston today, who brought up an interesting point–John Lackey looks like Jim Neighbors, aka Gomer Pyle. Can you just see him now? “GAWL- Lee!! I don’t know how I gave up those 13 runs over 2 innings, I felt strong and healthy tonight!” C’mon, admit it, you know it’s true….

I was sorry to hear that Josh Hamilton broke his arm sliding into home base during yesterdays Ranger/Tigers Game, keeping him out for 6-8 weeks. What I was VERY sorry to hear about is that Josh chose to throw his 3rd base coach, Dave Anderson, under the bus, stating that it was HIS fault that Josh got injured because he told him to run home, despite Josh’s instincts telling him not to. Well, Josh, as a person is who works the program, and never misses an opportunity to throw God into the conversation, I think acting in this manner completely OPPOSES both. You are a grownup, AND a professional ballplayer–you have an MVP trophy on your shelf–you obviously know how the game is played–and you shouldn’t have been sliding HEAD FIRST into home plate! So take responsibility for your actions, rather than blaming someone else…

Coming up: with tonight’s game being canceled due to supreme suckage (OK, it’s because of the rain) and their off-day tomorrow, the Sox have 2 days off to drink, pray, meditate or whatever they need to do to try and right the ship. Because of this Gomer Pyle’s start is being skipped (GAWL- Lee!!), and That Clay Person will kick off the 4-game series against Toronto. He is opposed Brett Cecil. 1st pitch 7:10m…
