    Red Sox 0, Cleveland 1:
    Fear and Loathing in Boston…

Posted by Christine E. at 2:17 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

Well, since my Dad is a Cleveland fan, I would actually be happy that his team is off to a great start…

…if it weren’t for the fact that their wins came at the expense of the Sox, who are now 0-6, and heading home to play the Skanks for 3…

Jon Lester pitched the game of his life: 7 beautiful innings of shutout baseball, only giving up 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 9…He threw 109 pitches, 66 for strikes. Thankfully, Tito opted to bring in Daniel Bard, rather than Papelbon (probably saving him for the series this weekend…UGH), which probably would have went ok, if it wasn’t for the walk to Adam Everett on 5 pitches Bard gave up, and then the brilliantly executed suicide squeeze where Asdrubal Cabrera bunted down the 3rd baseline, allowing Adam Everett to score, as the only play Youk had was to 1st base for the sure out….

These are the kinds of crazy-assed things that are KILLING them right now…

And because I. Got. Nuthin, here is a haiku for your reading enjoyment:

    0 and 6 to start

    Heading home to do better?

    A win would be nice…

OK, not my best work….But a 0-6 team does not deserve my best work at this point….

Can someone tell me why the Sox and the SKANKS are this afternoon? That is just WEIRD….But now I get to actually watch some of it–which I am not sure if that is a good thing or not…

And I see the lineup for today’s contest has Carl Crawford batting leadoff….and the Red Sox shuffle continues…Here’s the rest:

    Big Papi

    JD Drew

Saltalamacchia (with no cut and paste–yay!)

The Sox have designated Dennys Reyes for assignment…..good deal–so glad they did not wait–although I am still not super clear why he made the team to begin with….and I hear that Matt Albers (pretty much the Sox best bullpen guy at this point) is on the DL with lat strain, so the fact that Alfredo Aceves was a late scratch to start for Pawtucket yesterday is now explained–and apparently lefty Felix Doubront will be joining the team as well…Let’s hope this bullpen shakeup helps the cause…

Coming up: John Lackey and his abysmal 22.09 ERA takes the mound for the Season Opener at home, opposed by Phil Hughes and his pretty ucky ERA (11.25). Let’s hope Fenway can perform its magic and get the Sox on the path. 1st pitch 2:05pm…
