    February 18, 2011:
    6 Weeks Today…

Posted by Christine E. at 4:37 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Whooo Hoo! It hit at least 65 degrees here in Wilkes-Barre today, and Opening Day for the Boston Red Sox happens 42 days from today, on April 1st. So, in honor of that, I give you the 2011 Season Schedule, for your viewing pleasure…

    Some interesting things to note:

There are 17 during the week day games (i.e.: games prior to 5:00pm EST) in 2011. And while I understand the “travel day” game being an earlier game, but 4 of them actually START a series–very strange…

9 Left Coast games this year: 6 in April (2 against Oakland, and against the Angels) then 3 against Seattle in August…Out of the 9, 3 are during the day, 5 are at 10ish, and 1 is at 9ish…At least we get most of them out of the way early….because while it’s nice to fall asleep during baseball–it sucks when that alarm goes off at 6:45am…

In interleague play this year, the Sox will face, Milwaukee, The Phillies, The Cubs, Pittsburgh, and San Diego (and all the brouhaha surrounding Adrian Gonzales and his old team coming to Fenway) And, because I live in PA, and the blackout rules are stupid I will not be able to see the Sox play the Phillies or the Bucs, unless they are nationally televised. It doesn’t matter that I would never, ever get the Pittsburgh or Phila stations where I live–I’m in the bubble, so NO GAMES FOR ME!

And, someday, just once, I would like to see a Sox/Skanks game called by Rem Dawg and DO–but, again, because I am in the bubble of NYC–I guess the sycophants of the YES network–although it should be fun to see them comment on how fat Joba has gotten…

So, the Sox meet the Skanks 18 times in 2011, a 3 game series in every month but July where there are NONE (yay!) and in August, where they are two… Thankfully, the Sox do not begin or end their season facing the Skanks–but hopefully, by the end of the year, the Skanks will be 10-12 games behind and all but forgotten (yeah, I know, but a girl can DREAM, can’t she?)

The Sox end the year on the road for the 1st time since 2004. For some unexplainable reason, I hate it when they end on the road…

And of course, the one marked in blue? The Day I return to the Holy Land after a 2 year absence…SO cannot wait!

Coming up: The 1st Complete Squad Workout of 2011 happens tomorrow….Whooo Hooo!
