    October 7. 2010:
    Day 2 of the Postseason…

Posted by Christine E. at 8:31 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Just some random thoughts as I calculate how many more days until Pitchers and Catchers (about 130, give or take a day…)

Watched about 9 seconds of the postseason so far, just enough time to check the score of the Skanks/Twins’ 1st game–at the time the Twins were up 3-0–so much for that, as they ended up losing 6-4…

But Doc Halladay made history yesterday with only the 2nd no-no in postseason history, beating the Reds 4-0. Great accomplishment, and yes, he is a superb pitcher, but I can’t help believe that it’s just a little bit easier to do it in the NL…

And Tampa Bay got roached by Rangers, 5-1–perhaps the 2 errors had something to do with it?

Probably too early for predictions, and I usually suck at them, but let’s start with the Division Series, and see how that goes:

Skanks vs Twins: Skanks in 5–while the Skanks really don’t have much pitching, unless they parade CC Sabathia out there every day, they did very well against them in the regular season (5-2) and I think the Skanks will call on their postseason mojo to inch past the Twins–wish it wouldn’t happen–hope it doesn’t happen–but I think it probably will…

Tampa Bay vs Rangers: Rangers in 5– If Tampa Bay can keep the Rangers Bats quiet, they could have a shot–I just dont think they can

Phillies vs Reds: Phillies in 3–As much as I would like to see the Reds do well, I think they are completely over matched…

Atlanta vs Giants: I know so little about how these teams are constructed and such this year, so I really can’t make a call. I would like to see Derek Lowe do well; but since I have learned that Bobby Cox has allegedly hit his wife in the past, I hope he goes down in flames…so, as more of a hope than anything else: Giants in 4…

I didn’t get to watch “4 Nights in October” on ESPN on Tuesday night, but I TiVo’ed it, and watched it last night–certainly cheered me up and made me smile. And I swear to god that AGAIN when Dave Roberts executed “THE Steal”, I was afraid he was going to be called out this time. It was a GREAT 60 minutes of TV–and do you know that had actually thought about filming from the SKANKS perspective? But they chose to go from the Sox because it was “more romantic”. While Skank pain is always fun to watch–2004, to me, the focus will always be about the Sox shocking the world, making history, and doing the impossible, rather than the Skanks and their choke–that is just secondary–even if it was fun…

So the Red Sox ownership has decided the soccer team, Liverpool of the English Premier League, and some of the board of directors have agreed (but not owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr.) So the deal will probably do through–although it may take some time in court to do this…

Of course Sox owners are saying this will not impact their focus on the Boston Red Sox: “To be clear, while it is exciting for all of us as global sports fans, this is an undertaking of the NESV partnership, which owns the Boston Red Sox, New England Sports Network, Roush Fenway Racing, and Fenway Sports Group. It is not an undertaking of the Boston Red Sox and will not divert our resources or focus on the job at hand — winning a third World Series for the loyal members of Red Sox Nation.” Let’s hope so….

Coming up: 3 more games today: Tampa gets another shot at the Rangers, with Minnesota looking to even the score against the Skanks. The Phillies and the Reds take a break, as Atlanta and the Giants take a turn for the NL…
