    Red Sox 2, Skanks 7:
    Wicked…Revolting…Hot…Mess…

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, the word of the day is: REVOLTING…

Last night’s game can best be summed up with a complete shudder of revulsion–and that started even before Josh Beckett once again imploded against the team he use to OWN…

It is getting to the point where when the Sox are on ESPN I cannot even watch it–its used to be just the little things that were annoying, like the ubiquitous pinstriped suit when the Skanks were playing (I am sure Joe Morgan thinks its subtle….Yeah, OK….) But now the level of ass kissing and such is so bad that they are actually WORSE than the YES guys! Truly! How about THESE Gems from last night: (disclaimer: may not be EXACT quotes, but close enough…)

“Some guys are 5-tool players, but A-Rod is a 6-tool player because of his great mind, he knows now to think in situations like this” Yeah, he’s a TOOL alright….

“It looks like that ball didn’t curve back to the plate (for the strikeout)like the umpire called it–Jeter was probably right, as usual” Bleeeeeech…

And then we get to the revoltingness (if that is even a word) that was the actual game. 4 2/3 innings, 7 runs on 11 hits (including a homer to the PRINCE of revolting, Mark Toxemia) while walking 2, hitting Robinson Cano (one of the bright spots of the outing) and striking out 6. And during this 14-out spree of awful? He threw 105 pitches, 64 for strikes….Really Josh? THIS is the best you could do against the team you completely shut down when you were 23 years old??? For the 2010 Campaign, in 4 starts against the Skanks, Josh is 02- with an 11.17 ERA (yes, ELEVEN) what’s next, waxing philosophical about sitting under the Yum Yum tree and saying the “Skanks are my daddy??” CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP…..

Another bright spot: Tim Wakefield pitches 3 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit, and striking out 3…

I think it may have been a better game if the Sox had faced AJ Burnett like they we supposed to, but he was a late scratch with back spasms, so Dustin Moseley got bumped up. This also means that Phil Hughes got bumped to Monday….@&(#)&@(*&#)(*@&#)(*@&#

So now the Sox are 7 games behind the Skanks, and 4 1/2 behind Tampa Bay (who, all of a sudden, are losing…) and with ___games left, this just does not look good…

Speaking of not looking good–another 2 errors in last night’s game–I know this is not the team Theo built–but the sloppySLOPPY play is not acceptable–it’s like giving games away…

The Sox signed Carlos Delgado to a minor league contract over the weekend, but were careful to note that he would not be replacing Mike Lowell as the starting 1st baseman for the ballclub: “This is us doing our due diligence. Mikey Lowell is the guy that we’re playing at first base. Whatever, whenever, whoever would we add [will be] to hopefully complement him…He won’t play tomorrow. He’ll work out. And then they’ll start getting him in some games soon after that. Try to see how that hip responds and how productive he is with the bat and see where it goes from there.” The Sox have until September 1 to call him up, or he can opt out and be a free agent again. My feeling is if they can get anything out of him, we’ll see him as soon as he is ready…

Coming up: The Sox will face Phil Hughes tonight, which is certainly not a welcome thing–and on any given day if I could choose the Sox starter to face him, it would be Jon Lester–But not the Jon Lester we have seen since the All-Star Break (0-4 with a 5.06 ERA). Let’s hope we get the Cranky Texan who has brilliant stuff and can throw a no-hitter…’Cause a sweep is better than nothing… 1st pitch 1:05pm…
