April 9th, 2010
A couple of weeks ago, the award-winning Out of The Park Developments contacted the BBA, to see if any of us would be interested in reviewing a copy of the latest and greatest version of Out of The Park Baseball–Version 11.
So I signed up, and downloaded my copy over the weekend. We were asked to run a simulation of the 2010 campaign, and go from there.
I ran the 2010 campaign, and right before my eyes, every game for every team was run for the season–all of it done in less than 5 minutes! And then the WEALTH of information that was generated–WOW…Stats, Standings, Charts, News, Injury Updates, you name it–everything that the commissioners office would have, its all here…
And what was cool was that in my world, the Red Sox won the AL east (with 102 wins!), with the Rays coming in 2nd, and the Yankees 3rd–and 8 games behind. And the Sox made it all the way the World Series, where, they lost to Atlanta in 7 games…But how bout this? CASEY KOTCHMAN won the AL Batting title with a .347 AVG, Jeter was 2nd with .333 And the Sox also sent 5 to the All Stars in my universe: Mike Cameron, Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon, Kevin Youkilis and Jacoby Ellsbury…AND on Wednesday, July 28th, Tim Wakefield recorded his 200th win in a Red Sox uniform!
While I ran my simulation in “Commissioner Mode”, you can select your favorite team, and make any and all decisions necessary to complete your season. In addition, you can use this year’s current MLB roster, with a full minor league roster, or get creative and incorporate any players from any MLB season in history! Yep, if they played major league baseball anytime from 1871 to 2009, you can have them on your team. Picture having Cy Young, Pedro Martinez, Ted Williams and Nomar on the same team! Holy Buckets!
And not only do you get this type of in-depth info for one scenario-you get it for EVERY ONE YOU RUN. Want to play the 2010 campaign 3 times? 30 times? 300 times? You can, and you will get the same level of information as you did for the 1st.
You can also go online and play in leagues with other folks around the world in “the ultimate management challenge”
I could go on and on about all the neat things this program can do, but I can’t do it justice. So if you have ever thought that you could do it better than the GM/ Manager/etc (and, really, who hasn’t?) Then pick up a copy of Out of the Park Baseball 11-you will NOT be disappointed!
While Out of the Park Baseball 11 is scheduled for general release on April 14th for $40.00. So, if you want to be the first on your block to have one, order your copy now!
And, once you have had a chance to try it out, let me know what you think!
