    April 2, 2010:
    Good Causes…

Posted by Christine E. at 10:01 am in Baseball,Good Deeds,Red Sox Comments (3)

As you know, Boston Red Thoughts likes to get the word out about important events in Red Sox Nation–please check out these important and worthy causes…

There are only 4 days left for folks in the greater Boston area to Rally Against Cancer to support the Jimmy Fund and the Boston Red Sox. Participation is as easy as contributing $5 or more to the Jimmy Fund and wearing Sox gear on April 6.

Colleges and universities, K-12 schools and businesses are asked to start a team as soon as possible, as the highest fundraising team in each category within a two hour drive of Boston will win a visit from Buchholz.

Clay Buchholz this year’s spokesplayer, weighs in: “Not everyone can be at Fenway Park to see us take on the Yankees. But this is a great alternative for fans to be part of the excitement and to show support for my two favorite teams, the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund…I know how life-changing cancer is. The work Dana-Farber is doing in cancer care and research is important. Rally Against Cancer is an easy and fun way for everyone to help the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber give hope to the adults and children who are fighting this disease.”

To sign up, start a team, or for more information, please visit the Rally Against Cancer website.

About the Jimmy Fund: Founded in 1948, the Jimmy Fund is an official charity of the Boston Red Sox, supporting the fight against cancer at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world. Unrestricted support from the Jimmy Fund is an integral part of Mission Possible: The Dana-Farber Campaign to Conquer Cancer, a $1 billion capital campaign to accelerate cancer research, speed development of life-saving therapies, and expand the Institutes signature patient- and family-centered care.
