    March 28, 2010:
    One Week to go…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:26 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

In honor of only 7 more days until meaningful baseball, here is the schedule for the Boston Red Sox for the 2010 Campaign.

And, if I had to describe the scheduling for this year in one word, that word would be: WEIRD…

For example:  The Sox play the Giants in San Fran for 3 on the last weekend of June as part of interleague play–and the times are: 10:15, 7:10 and 4:05pm…huh?

And then there is the 1st 3 games the Sox play against Minnesota in their new stadium on the 12th, 14th and 15 of April. The game start times are ALL day games: 4:10, 1:10 and 1:10–If its tool cold to play at night in Minnesota without a roof (don’t forget, no more Metrodome) then maybe they should have thought of that before they building a new park without a roof? I’m just saying is all…

And what about the fact that the Sox have THREE days off in the 1st 10 days of the Season? Monday April 5, Thursday, April 8, and then Tuesday April 13? And the Tuesday one is strange–RIGHT in the middle of the series with Minnesota….

And how bout the 3 with Toronto: 2 at 7:07pm (the regular time when playing the Canucks) but then 12:37pm on the 3rd day?

    Told you…WEIRD…

And then, there are the games in the middle of the night–and it’s not like last year where they were all out of the way by July–No, this year, there are 4 over a 6 games stretch from September 10-15 through Oakland and Seattle. And there is a marathon of them–7 over 10 (yes TEN!) games at the end of July, when the Sox play Oakland, Seattle, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New Mexico, Las Vegas, USA…

And then there is Manny’s return to Fenway with the Dodgers, June 18-20–I do not even have the words to express how unimportant this is to me. And it really perplexes me why everyone is getting all riled up about this. Yes, this is the 1st time Manny will be back to Fenway since he orchestrated his departure 2 years ago–but do you, for one instant, really think he gives a rat’s ass whether or not the Fenway faithful Boo, Clap, or Moon him? Manny didn’t care whether or not the Nation lived or died when he was HERE–and he cares even less now–if that is even possible…

And as far as the Skankee series…18 times, starting with the 1st 3 games of the season, and ending with the last 3 days of the season. and then there are 5 in May, 4 in August, and 3 more in September….UGH…Just thinking about playing the last 3 days of the season against them, gives me an ulcer. I really hope the standings are decided, one way or the other, way before those last 3 games at Fenway…

Now that the schedule is all set–can we start now please???
