December 31st, 2009
I know, I know, the end of the season was November something or other when the Phillies could not get it done, allowing the 5 years of wonderful peace and quiet from Yankeeland to end….
But since tomorrow kicks off the 2010 season, it’s only fitting that the last day of the year signifies the end of the 2009 campaign…
I swear, that made complete sense in my head…
And while I am disappointed that Jason Bay chose to sign with the Mets for a $66 million, 4-year contract, with a vesting option for the 5th year–I am glad he did not sign with the Skanks, and I think he will realize at some point, the better choice would have been to stay with the Sox…
But, as the year changes to the “tens”, Mike Lowell is still a member of the Boston Red Sox–for the moment. He had his surgery yesterday, and, by all accounts it went very well–and I guess it was as bad as all that–a 95% tear in the radial collateral ligament in his thumb–so I guess “hanging by a thread” would not be an exaggeration…He will now need 6-8 weeks to recover, which puts him right around the beginning of Spring Training to be ready to resume baseball activities…and they they will probably trade him–#^@&*^#*&@^&*#@^&@.
Some important dates:
- 48 Days until Pitchers and Catchers
- 93 days until Opening Day
Finally, On behalf of Boston Red Thoughts and everyone here at NEPABlogs, we wish you a most spectacular and amazing New Year–and may 2010 be the year the Sox win their 3 World Series in 7 years …:-)
