    October 27, 2009:
    The lesser of 9 evils…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:25 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

    This…sucks…royally…

The Skanks advancing to the World Series, based on the lackluster play of the Angels, is no great surprise–its just makes me more than a little nauseous….

But one miraculous thing did happen–I never thought that there would be a player that, just by looking at him, would make me want to shoot my television set (Good thing I don’t own a gun), more than Jeter–but there is such an animal–and his name is Mark Toxemia. Every time I see him….UGH…

And, no it has nothing to do with the fact that the Sox didn’t get him in the off-season—As I have mentioned before, I never wanted him, and I am GLAD his wife makes the decisions in his family–because there is nothing worse than wanting to shoot the TV when you see a player–and he is on your own team…

    ANYWAY…

So now it’s the Skanks and the Phillies, which, if I was to select the 2 teams I least would want in the World Series, it would probably be these 2 teams. Abhor the Skanks (no great shocker there) and have never liked the Phillies, despite growing up in Pennsylvania…

Not that I am going to even watch any of this World Series–ok, I take that back–if the Phillies are going to win it , I will watch the end of that game–just so I could see Jeter and the like put on their stoic Skankee faces–just like they did when Josh Beckett and the Marlins did in 2003…

So I guess, in a round about way, I am rooting for the Phillies…UGH…never thought THAT would happen…

And, I would like to see Pedro do well–but I wonder–if the Skanks beat up on him, will he start all that “They are my daddy” and “When I was young, sitting under the yum yum tree” nonsense he did in 2004? I really haven’t been paying attention to his career more than peripherally since he left the Sox, has he been a diva like he was in Boston?

When all is said and done–I think (oh, hell, I hope against hope) the Phillies will beat the Skanks–and it will take them all 7 games to do it….

So its official, Jed Hoyer is the new General Manager of the San Diego Padres, ending his 7 year tenure as the Red Sox assistant GM .He is replacing Kevin Towers, who spent 14 years at the helm…

And it looks like Tito will be without his #1: Bench Coach Brad Mills made the even shorter list for the Astro’s Manager position, having his 3rd interview with the club today. One of the top 4, Manny Acta, took the helm in Cleveland, leaving Mills, interim Manager Dave Clark, and former Astros Manager Phil Garner to vie for the position…

In a move that is of no surprise to anyone, the Lounge Lizard will once again manager the St Louis Cardinals, for his 15th year, signing a 1 year contract with the ball club. Joining the fold as hitting coach is none other than slugger (and I am not going to say any more than that) Mark McGwire…

Coming up: After 82 days rest, the World Series will begin tomorrow night in New York. Cy Young Winners and former Cleveland teammates CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee get the starts. 1st pitch: 7:57pm…

Crap, in 2004, on October 28th, the Sox were basking in their 1st World Series win since 1918, having swept the Cardinals the night before, and in 2007 on the 28th they were on their 4th and final game of the World Series against the Colorado…Good Times–I miss those…
