Lisa from Subway Squawkers here - I'm a Yankee fan who is part of the BBA. Just wanted to say hey. I'm glad I discovered your site, even if you do root for the Sox! ;)

Zach: Thanks so much for your comments--I think that the "too scared to make the calls" is the most bogus thing I have ever heard, but if he wants to believe that--OK by me...

And could Juan Rivera perhaps have acted like he even cared about getting to that bloop single by Alex Gonzales...I think, if he tried, he could have made the catch and ended the game...

Last night's game was one of those "stranger than fiction" games--they happen--and if the Angels were that irate about it, why didn't they protest?

How do you not dive for that ball to end the game? A couple things... First, that 3-2 Fuentes threw that walked in the winning run was a terrible pitch to take in that situation, and he got bailed out by the home plate umpire who was too scared to ring him up. After the game, Fuentes commented that he has heard from many other players as well that umpires are "scared" to make calls that go against the Red Sox when they are at Fenway. I'm sure that's not the case at all, but the fact that it even crosses a pitchers mind, TALK ABOUT A HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE!
