    Red Sox 3, Rangers 6:
    And the downward spiral continues….

Posted by Christine E. at 7:48 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

So, now the Sox have lost the last 3 in a row, completely negating the nice 3 game lead in the AL East they has when the All-Star break happened…and now, with the inevitable resurgence of the Skanks, they now share the top spot in the division…

It seems that the 4 days off has put the bats to sleep, as the Sox hit .188 as a team over the weekend north of the border…and a total of 10 runs in the last 4 games

    Freaking wonderful…

But this loss needs to be firmly in the hands of John Smoltz, as much as it pains me to say, as I have so wanted him to be successful…But another BAD INNING (This time it was the 6th..) was his undoing AGAIN…’Cause for the 1st 5 innings, he was brilliant (1 run on 4 hits) and then the 6 inning, and 3 HOME RUNS LATER, (2 solo homers and a 2-run shot) the game was all but lost…

His line: 5 2/3 innings, throwing 96 pitches, 65 for strikes, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits (including the 3 homers) while walking none and striking out 5…And now he stands with a record of 1-3 with a 6.31 ERA…UGH…

It was nice to see the bullpen pitch well for their 2 1/3 innings, giving up only 1 hit while striking out 4 and walking 2…

So, how scary is it that the ONLY game the Sox have won in this 2nd half was started by CLAY BUCHHOLZ?????

The trade deadline is 10 days away–will Theo make a move for a big bat? I reallyREALLY hope so…

So I hear that once Julio Lugo clears waivers (cause NO ONE is going to want to pay him anything like the $13.5 million the Sox are on the hook for) that the Mets will probably sign him for the league minimum (and the Sox will still have to pay the $13.5 million…UGH) Good bye, good riddance, and good luck…watch, he’ll turn into a 300 hitter and offensive machine…yeah, right…Its pretty sad when Julio Lugo is an upgrade for a team…

Coming up: Hopefully HOPEFULLY Josh Beckett will be able to right the ship tonight, as he has done so many times before. My only concern is he has not pitched in 8 days, since his complete game shutout on the last day of the 1st 1/2–hopefully he will not been too rusty…He is opposed by Tommy Hunter for the Rangers. 1st pitch 8:05pm…
