    July 17, 2009: Chhhhaaaangggggessssssssss…..

Posted by Christine E. at 2:30 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Finally! In less than 4 hours there will be baseball again–feels like freaking forever–and we’ll finally have something to watch and talk about…

Holy…Buckets! Could it POSSIBLE be? For real?

Yep, all signs indicate that Julio Lugo has played his last game for the Boston Red Sox. And, I for one, couldn’t be happier (no surprise there, I know…) And one of the most telling? He is not in Canada with them! He also missed a mandatory workout yesterday, the only one to do so–but Tito is chalking that up to a “miscommunication”–sure OK–but everyone else got the memo….

Also, Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports reported yesterday that the Sox are “desperately” trying to trade shortstop Julio Lugo” (yeah sure, good luck with that…)and if they can’t trade him, they will more than likely release him…which means then the Sox are on the hook for the remainder of his salary–about $13.5 million.

UPDATE: Julio Lugo has been designated for assignment, which means the Sox have 10 days with which to trade him, or release him…Whoo Hooo!!!

And Jed Lowrie and Mike Lowell will both be activated this weekend, more than likely today for Lowell, and tomorrow for Lowrie–and I dont expect that Lowrie will start playing every day right off the bat–but since they have Nick Green, who really has done a great job for the Sox, in a position that would have turned into a huge gaping hole, they can ease Lowrie back..

I guess the biggest question is–Sure they are coming back–but are they right? Only time will tell….

And tomorrow, I am heading to the Baseball Hall of Fame. I know I said we were going next weekend to see Jim Ed inducted–but I was told that you cannot move during induction weekend, and really can’t get to see everything, so we decided to go earlier so we can get the full effect of the museum and the like…

I have never been there, so I am SO very excited to be able to see all the historic baseball memorabilia, and walk where all of those famous players have walked. Is the bloody sock still there? I would really like to see that…

Coming up: What we have been talking about for about the last week–when there is no baseball to speak of , you start to repeat yourself…Clay Buchholz, blah blah blah, opposing him–Ricky Romero, blah blah blah, 1st pitch: 7:07pm
