    Red Sox 8, Toronto 3:
Top 9 Reasons Last Nights Game was
the Best (So Far) in 2009

Holy Buckets! THAT a great game last night! I always enjoy games that have a lot of Red Sox hitting, and this one was one of the best:

    9. Jacoby Ellsbury tying the ML Record for putouts in 1 game with 12…

    8. Baldelli’s triple–he has been unwell and injured for so long, I forgot how fast he was…

    7. Jason Varitek–1st 2 at bats, single shots in each of them…1st multi homer game since 1995–the year he won the Silver Slugger…

    6. Back to back home runs from Mike Lowell (#6) and Jason Bay (#12) Manny who?

    5. Youk returned to the lineup, and after going 0-6 in Pawtucket, went 3-5 with 3 singles and raised his BA to above .400…it was as it he never left…

    4. 5…count ‘em FIVE home runs off the 22 year old Brett Cecil, who will probably need 10 years of therapy to overcome this shakeup…

    3. Bad Penny! actually has a great outing, going 6 2/3 innings of 9-hit, 2-run ball, walking 1 and striking out 2. He threw 96 pitches, 58 for strikes…With last night’s win, he now has a 4-1 record with the Sox…

    2. The Sox got the win, dropping Toronto’s lead in the AL East to 1.5 games…

    1. And the best part of last night’s game? Big Papi hits his 1st homer run of the season–taking 149 at bats to get it done–and I will admit–got a bit dusty in the room when it happened…

Coming up: Jon Lester going for the sweep of the Blue Jays (and a mere 1/2 game between 1st and 2nd place). He is opposed by Robert Ray. 1st pitch 7:10pm. I think it’s a pretty big deal that the Sox managed to dodge the best pitcher in the AL this series–Doc Halladay…
