    Red Sox 5, Skanks 4,
    Red Sox 16, Skanks 11,
    Red Sox 4, Skanks 1,
Holy Buckets! Was NOT expecting THAT!!!

Whoo Hoo! Well, that was an incredible weekend of baseball! We had everything–good pitching, a couple guys with 6 RBI games, and someone stealing home plate! It doesn’t get much better than this…

And how bout that STEAL? WOW…I am watching the game, watching…watching…and freaking Jacoby Ellsbury just APPEARS at home plate out of nowhere. Even watching the replay like 6 times, its just unbelievable that he could DO that! And that is the 1st stealing of home by a Red Box player since Jose Offerman did it back in 1999–and that was a double steal. The last time a straight steal (as in Jacoby’s case) was 1994 by Billy Hatcher…The Steal was Jacoby’s 10th of the season–in a season 18 days old…

And Justin Masterson is really making a case for himself as a starter, going 5 1/3 strong, giving up 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. He threw 99 pitches, 62 for strikes…

Hunter Jones, Michael Bowden and Takashi Saito all combined for 3 2/3 of no-hit ball, issuing only 3 walks during their work…

And can I just say for the record how HAPPY I am that Mark Toxemia was a total NON-EVENT this weekend…he walked alot, but so what? My husband and I were watching the game on Saturday night when he came up to bat saying such witty things as “OK, here we go, 6 run homer by Mark Toxemia, right here, to put them ahead for good–THEN he is going to come in a pitch a perfect 9th inning, and then after that happens, the Sox will raze Fenway Park and erect the ‘Mark Toxemia Memorial golf course’ which also offers shuttle buses to the Stadium” Fun Times!!

This was the same game where the Sox were down 6-0 against Punk AJ Burnett, who has pretty much owned the Sox the last couple of years, (in 8 career starts against the Sox: 5-0 with a 2.56 ERA) which is probably a big part why the Skanks decided to WAY overpay for him ($82.5 million) and then a grand slam by Jason “The rumors of my demise have been great exaggerated” Varitek and the Sox are back into the game..

Can we talk about the fact the Sox were down by 2 on Friday night, and Jason Bay comes up to hit a 2 run homer off Mariano Rivera (!) to tie it with 2 outs in the 9th. THEN, YOUUUUUUUUK comes in for the 11th inning–walk off homer!

I know its only April, but this weekend, the Sox beat the Skanks in every aspect of the game–and that feels pretty freaking spectacular….

In al the brouhaha about the sweep, I almost forgot that the Sox are currently riding on a 10 game winning streak (They have not lost since April 14th, against Oakland) The Sox are firing on all cylinders–How long can this last? The last streak they had was in June 1996–and that was 12 games…

Some bad news tho–it looks like Julio Lugo will be activated in time for tonight’s game against Cleveland….UGH…

But good news: John Smoltz threw against live hitting this weekend, in a 2-inning, 35 pitch, simulated game. He will now be on a 5 day throwing program, in hopes that he will be rotation ready by June…

So the Skanks put Chien Ming Wang on the DL–Bummer–I wanted to see how high he could get that ERA–34.50–still has room to grow…

Coming up: The Sox take it on the road for 9 games, starting with 3 against Cleveland at The Jake. Tim Wakefield gets the nod in the contest (can he throw a complete game for the 3rd time?–the depleted bullpen would be happy about that) opposed by Cliff Lee. 1st pitch 7:05pm
