    Red Sox 10, Twins 1
    Red Sox 7, Twins 3:
    And that makes 7 in a Row…

A winning streak of 7 games is a long way from the suckiness that was 2-6…Whoo Hoo!

Tim Wakefield was masterful in his 7 innings of work–and because of the shorted game–he pitched all of it–yes, 2 complete games in a row for Tim Wakefield.

His line: 1 run on 5 hits, with 4 strikeouts, a walk, 2 hit batsmen, a wild pitch, and a partridge in a pear tree. He threw 101 pitches, 62 for strikes. Not the cleanest win–but a win is a win…

Dare I say it, but perhaps the Sox will be giving Wake the run support they have not in previous years?OK, I know its a small sample, but Nick Green is on FIRE–he had 3 doubles yesterday (1 in the 1st game, 2 in the 2nd) as well as a 2-run homer in the 1st game…but the 3 errors in the 2 games yesterday were rather troublesome–but they were his 1st–I have seen him–he is MUCH better at shortstop than Julio Lugo–but then again, by 11 year old stepdaughter is a better shortstop than Lugo…I am freaking DREADING the day he comes back, which probably wont be too long now, as he is being a sucking gaping hole at Pawtucket with 3 strikeouts and a walk in yesterday’s contest…although he did not make an error in the field…give him time–it’ll happen…

And Bad Penny! did better yesterday–not good enough to lose the “Bad Penny!” moniker–but better

His Line: Throwing 89 pitches, 56 for strikes, he went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hit(including a home run) while striking out 2, and walking 1…

Newbie Jeff Bailey, who was called up from Pawtucket when Rocco Baldelli went on the DL with the hamstring issue, hit a 3-run shot yesterday in support of Penny. It always makes me happy when the guys who are on the bubble (call it the Lou Merloni Syndrome) do well…

But to accommodate Bailey on the 40-man, Devern Hansack was put on unconditional release waivers. If he clears (i.e.: if no one else snaps him up) He’ll probably be back with a minor league deal…

Apropos of nothing: Ramon Ramirez still has a 0.00 ERA, a record this year, having pitched 9 2/3 innings…and had another inning of nothingness in last night’s contest.

Isn’t it amazing how far Kevin Youkilis has come? In 2004, he was this pudgy kid who Billy Beane called “The Greek God of Walks” Now, he is a lean (relatively speaking) mean legitimate #4 hitter, and was #3 in the MVP voting last year–and will actually be on the ballot for the All-Star game, instead of David Ortiz. Because the game will be held in St Louis, there will be no DH. But, in the past, Big Papi has been on the ballot anyway, because of his hitting. But Youk has gotten too good not to go–especially in the position he has claimed as his own–1st base…From Big Papi: “He just gets better and better. He’s been improving himself more and more and more, and that’s what the game is all about. The guy wakes up and he could get a hit. It’s crazy. That’s good. We need guys like that around here.”

And you can start voting now –up to 25 times per e-mail address and you have until July 2. Then they will have all the extra balloting stuff (30th man, etc). The starters will be announced on July 5th, and the game will be played on July 14…

So apparently, Mark Toxemia expects boos because the “Sox Fan are disappointed”–Disappointed? Why? Because you and Satan and your wife contrived to get you to play for the Skanks? Or, maybe because it’s the fact that your batting average is .222 right now… I’m not disappointed—I…never…wanted…you…I am freaking THRILLED we kept Mike Lowell, and your sorry ass went to the Skanks…Completely…and by the way? Mike Lowell has a .315 BA…

Coming up: An off-day, all the better to whip the masses into a complete and utter frenzy–and then the Sox, armed with their 9-6 record, are ready for win #8–and who better to face than the Skanks, who own an identical record, and a BILLION DOLLAR PAYROLL. It’s Jon Lester and Joba the Hut. 1st pitch 7:10pm. It’s too early in the season to play “standings bingo” Suffice it to say that if the Sox sweep, we’ll be 3 games ahead of the Skanks, or vice versa, or any combination thereof…

    Go Sox!
