    Red Sox 4, Angels 5:
    Not liking this Trend…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:37 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

OK, can someone please tell me why we roll over the Angels in every postseason we have faced them in recent history (3 times in the last 5 season), but we can very rarely beat them in regular play? I don’t get it…

An with Josh Beckett on the mound, I always have a confidence that he will win, and am ALWAYS shocked when he struggles–although 4 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings of work, while striking out 5 and walking 2 is a fairly good outing for most–and would have even been enough for a win, if the bats has come up and picked Beckett up…I mean c’mon, Dustin Pedroia GIDP in the 7th?? When does THAT ever happen??? Yesterday, I guess…Not to mention the TEN men left on base…CRAP…

And this one started out with great potential, with Youk and JD Drew having back to back homers in the 2nd, and the Sox were ahead by 2…By that time, 4 Angels had already be ejected (2 player, a coach, and Manager, Mike Scioscia)so it was shaping up to be a very cool day…

But then it when to hell in a hand basket…

So the Sox stand in the gutter, with (ironically enough) Tampa Bay, sharing the same ucky 4-2 record (again ironically, the only 2 wins Tamp Bay has are on, you guessed it, the Sox)

So the Sox are 6 games into the season, and they are already benching Jed Lowrie because he is in a 1-18 slump, with 8 strikeouts. OK, so Nick Green got the start, good for him, as chances are he is back to Pawtucket once Julio the Useless comes back (and that is still looking like next week…)And while I am glad they are trying to right his ship sooner rather than later, you know as well as I do, if Julio was the one slumping like that, they would let him stay in the game and “work through it”…which, if his performance since Theo signed him to that ridiculous contract is any indication, THAT will never happen…

Early Season Trivia: In this season that is only 6 games old, Jason Bay and Kevin Youkilis have reach base safely in every game…

Coming up: The middle of the night games continue, as the Sox move to Oakland, who has the same ucky record as the Sox. Let’s hope they can right the ship. One good thing about night games–as I will never stay up for the whole thing, it will limit my exposure to seeing Oakland’s resident porn star, Jason Giam-BO–wonder if he is still as gross as ever…probably…But we will get to see Nomar–in his 1st appearance against the Sox since he left in 2004…Ace 1A, Jon Lester, gets the start for the Sox (and hopefully will fare better than his 1st start last week), opposed by Dallas Braden for Oakland. 1st pitch 10:07pm…UGH…
