Red Sox 2, Tampa Bay 7:
Can’t expect to win ALL of them…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:55 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

    …As much as I would like to…

Well, it was a good game for the 1st 3 innings, then Jon Lester showed uncharacteristic struggles (at least in recent memory) leading t a 4 run 5th inning, which put the game out of reach for the Sox. Throwing 93 pitches (60 for strikes) Lester gave up 5 runs on 8 hits while striking out 5 and walking 2…

And how does a guy who has a million game errorless streak at 1st base, get his 1st error on the 2nd day of the season?

Rocco Baldelli manned right field in yesterday’s game, his 1st in a Red Sox Uniform, having a great catch in the outfield, and going 1-4.

And one thing I noticed during last night’s game–HD is NOT kind to Jerry Remy..

Receiving Hardware: Before today’s game, Dustin Pedroia will receive his Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards…

Brad Wilkerson, who left the Red Sox a couple of weeks ago to decide his next step, (He had the option of becoming a free agent if he did not make the bigs) has decided to stay with the organization, and will accept the assignment to Pawtucket, whose season starts tomorrow…

And the whole Sox things losing is ALWAYS made more palatable when the Skanks lose–and when their ace is the one doing the losing–to the Oreo’s AGAIN no less. Chien-Ming Wang was chased in the 4th inning, giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, in his 1st start since missing most of 2008 with a foot injury…Good Times! And the 3rd portion of the 1/2 BILLION trilogy (AJ Burnett) will be getting the start today–wouldn’t it be fun if he got lit up too????

Coming up: Daisuke makes his 1st start of the 2009 campaign in this final game of this series against Tampa Bay. He is 2-3 lifetime against Tampa Bay 1st pitch 1:35, which means there is not a snowball’s chance in hell that I will actually get to see any of it–but since its Daisuke, that might not be a bad thing…He is opposed by Matt Garza for the Rays. Then the Sox head to Californ-I-A for some middle of the night action, starting tomorrow (Friday) night at 10:05pm…UGH…
