    Red Sox 1, Oreos 5:
    Not liking these cookie crumbs…

Two good things in yesterday’s game: Mike Lowell played this 1st meaningful game (relatively speaking) since the ALCS when he had to shut it down before his hip fell off…He was the DH, and went 1 for 3 with a single. From Mike: “Things felt fast — like your plate discipline is a little bit behind. I swung at an 0-2 pitch that probably wasn’t the best pitch to swing at. But I think that’s part of the timing of why we’re here. If not, Spring Training would be five days long. I think that’s part of it. I’d much rather finish with the at-bat I did then maybe start with it and end up with the other two…I think this was step one and playing the field is step two, and then we’ll get to the endurance part of just being able to go the whole game and not think about the hip.” Look for him to make his 1st start at 3rd for 3 or 4 innings on Friday against the Skanks…and its definitely looking like he will be opening the Season at the hot corner…Yay!!!

And the other good thing in this game, albeit a bit surprising: Clay Buchholz has a great outing–his second IN A ROW–throwing 3 scoreless, hitless innings, using only 31 pitches(!), 24 or strikes while striking out 2…Can we make it a 3rd???

    Current Grapefruit record? 5-7…UGH….

More pitches from Penny: Throwing batting practice on Tuesday, all of 20 pitches, in anticipation of some intrasquad game action on Friday (No Skankees for him yet!) Barring any unforeseen, he should get into a “real” game sometime next week…

Got my 1st bill for MLB extra innings from Direct TV. $44.75 plus tax for 4 months. STILL Cheaper than most tickets at Fenway…DO and Rem Dawg are less than a month away now….ahhhhh….

Well, the Dominican Republic has fallen to the Netherlands (I didn’t even know the Netherlands HAD baseball….) so Big Papi will be back in camp very soon, joining Canada’s Jason Bay, who should be back for tomorrow’s game…and not a moment freaking too soon. Despite the concerns abut Papi’s wrist, and the fact that he says his shoulder HURTS HIM WHEN HE THROWS (not when he hits tho) the DR insisted on playing him at 1st base–AGAIN…Thankfully, THAT is over….

And so the cuts begin: Argenis Diaz has been moved to Portland, with Dustin Richardson, Kris Johnson, Charlie Zink (really hope he gets his chance with the Sox this year) and Carlos Maldonado going to Pawtucket…

A-Fraud had his surgery on Monday, and looks to be in line for a May return–freaking wonderful…

And Manny will make his debut for the 2009 campaign tomorrow, joining the Dodgers as they play South Korea in a WBC exhibition game. It is unknown whether he will play left, or just DH…How nice for him. Lets see how long it takes before the Dodgers do something to displease him, and he starts his nonsense again…

Coming up: An off day today, then off to Jupiter (the city in Florida, not the planet) to play the Cardinals. Josh Beckett gets the nod for the 1:05 start, with Michael Bowden and Justin Masterson to follow…
