    January 1, 2009:
    This and That…

Posted by Christine E. at 4:43 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

1st of all: Happy New Year! I hope all of your Pre and Post New Years Celebrations were happy and safe…

And here’s to the Sox getting back (and winning) the World Series in 2009!

Just some random thoughts and stuff as I begin the annual post holiday clean up and organization of my life…

Got a note from The Sawxheads, who began an online petition to help get Jim Ed into the Hall of Fame. With the announcement in less than 2 weeks (January 12th to be exact) it certainly could not hurt…

If you interested, go here, sign it, and tell everyone you know…

Also got some GREAT funnies from our friends at eTrue Sports, with regard to the rampant spending of the Skanks…

In the wake of his club’s unprecedented $420 million free-agent spending spree, Yankee honcho Hal Steinbrenner has ordered all employees to begin clipping coupons, and quietly switched the brand of coffee served in club offices from Starbuck’s to Savarin. “Wasn’t it Bud Selig who once said, ‘A penny saved is a penny earned’?” Hal said.

The New York Yankees announced they will purchase the Dominican Republic. “When we crunched the numbers it turned out it was cheaper to buy the whole country, than sign individual players,” explained Yankees’ GM Brian Cashman.

In a little more than an hour, the record setting launch of the MLB Network will take place with the 1 hour show, “Hot Stove”, followed by Don Larsen’s perfect game from October 8, 1956 (The only Perfect Game in World Series History) at 7:00pm. Direct TV will be broadcasting it on channel 213–and I have already added it to my list of favorites! For more info, or to find out what channel the MLB Network will be on where you live (or you don’t have Direct TV) check out their website

So, apparently, Manny Ramirez is looking for a team that will pay him the crazy money he is looking for -and failing miserably… The Angels don’t want him, the Mets don’t want him, the Skanks signed Mark Teixeira instead, and there is reality no one else who could afford the money he wants (except the Sox–and THAT will never happen) So Satan gets to go back to the only team who has indicated any type of interest, the Dodgers–and see if the 3-year $45 million contract offer they made in November is still valid…HA HA…

Coming up: The Hot Stove continues–and the question everyone is asking–WHAT is going on with Jason Varitek???
