    December 18. 2008:
    Oh, there IS a bid…

And not only do we not have a CLUE what it is…but, apparently, it’s the highest one! Some randomness on the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes, and other sundry items:

The Sox made an 8 year offer, and, after being burned MASSIVELY by another one of Satan’s clients, (don’t think we need to name names…) there will not be a 10 year contract offering…

The Skanks are now in the hunt–although after spending a 1/4 of a billion dollars on 2 pitchers, they presence is probably more to drive up the price for the Sox, than anything else…And besides, acquiring Manny would work better for them anyway–they would get a good hitter (although I think Joe Girardi is wrapped a bit too tight to deal with him–Torre, like Tito, was good at it…) and jab the Sox…Rumor has it the Skanks have offered Manny 3 years, and $66 million–not really close to the 6-8 years, $150 million he wants…

The Oreos are all but out of it with their 7-year, $150 million offer–How SAD is it that $150 MILLION DOLLARS is not enough money…The cookies would be better served to spend this kind of dough on a bunch of GOOD players, rather than just 1–We all remember A-Rod did not help the Rangers get out of the toilet…and he ended up bailing on them anyway… But we all know that if they do not get Teixeira, they won’t spend that kind of money anywhere else…

Now, Teixeira could be completely homesick (he grew up in Maryland) and take the cheaper offer–but it’s unlikely. Now, HOW much fun would it be if all these teams big reallyREALLY stupid money and he ends up with the team who made the smallest offer–Scott Boras’ head would explode…

The Nationals have an 8 year $160 million deal on the table

The Angels, 8 years, money unknown.

The Sox, (probably) 8 years, money unknown…

Teixeira wants a deal done by Christmas; if it were up to Satan, the day before spring training begins, so he could run up the highest tally, would work for him. Hell, if he thought it would work, he’s have his client walk away rather than take less money…But he CARES for the players he represents–yeah, right…

We all know the whole “mano e mano, I want some poi victory dance” new Met’s closer Francisco Rodriguez does on the mound. K-Rod insists it’s not to show anyone up: “…I’m not trying to offend the other team with that. It’s just a passion that I have…Sometimes people take it the wrong way, but I’m not trying to send a message at all….”That’s just a sigh of relief that I get up there. I’ve done it since I was 4 years old, when I was a little kid, so why change now?”

Uh, K-Rod, how about the fact that YOUR NOT FOUR YEARS OLD ANYMORE????

Now that pretty much no one wants him, Jake Peavy would be open to pitching in the AL, specifically the Sox…amazing how that works…Atlanta and the Cubs were the teams the Padres were looking to trade him too–but their talks have went by the wayside…

Coming up: The Teixeira thing could break fast–stay tuned….
