    December 3, 2008:
    Weird Dream Week…

Posted by Christine E. at 2:41 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

So I have this dream last night that Theo signed Phillies Pat Burrell, and then traded Mike Lowell away–which makes absolutely NO sense, as Burrell is a Left Fielder and Mike Lowell is a 3rd baseman–and $14 million plus for a 4th outfielder is a bit much….

Its unfortunate that Theo is looking for a left-handed 4th outfielder (Pat Burrell bats righty, by the way…) as bringing Gabe Kapler back into the fold woudl be WAY cool–although I think the whole “Sox giving him a manager’s job, and then he bails after a year because he wants to come out of retirement and play ball again” deal didn’t drum up any good will for Gabe…

So how many teams out there can say that, with absolutely no changes to their current roster, they could make a run at the 2009 Postseason? The Rays? The Phillies? Probably. The Skanks? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…ahem…The Red Sox? Absolutely. My feeling is the only reason the Sox did not get to the World Series is because of injuries—to Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett, Big Papi take your pick…Which definetly put the Sox in the position of strength with reagrd to negotiaons in this offseason–they are not in desperate need of ANYTHING–although replacing the captain would be a bitch–if it comes down to it…It is always interesting to see how things play out with Theo and the Sox…

Just when you thought it was over, there is STILL more hardware to be won. Starting December 15th, This Week In Baseball will be giving out their awards for the 2009 campaign, which include: Hitter of the Year, Top Defensive Player of hte Year, Single Game Performance, and Starter of the Year, to name a few…

So the Dustin Pedroia Awards Show may not be over just yet, as he is up for several of these awards…

Speaking of Pedroia, how bout this for late breaking news: The Sox and Dustin Pedroia have agreed to a 6-year $40.5 million contract with a club option for 2015–a nice raise for Pedroia, who made $900K last year…I am glad they made that move–and if he continues the way he is…he is a bargain at twice that price…

So, Michael Phelps is Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year–no surpise there–but what is a surpise is how AWFUL he looks. I’m not talk about the whole “wet dress suit” look–although that is bad enough–but his face–he looks like Non (the scary bad guy) from the 2nd superman movie. If I were him, I would be VERY annoyed–he’s a good looking guy–and this cover photo WAY did not do him justice…

Coming up: Interested in sitting at Fenway Park on select dates in April or May, freezing your ass off, or perhaps the Sox Pax (4 game ticket options spread out over the season, and can include opening day, and a Skankee game)? If either option is to your liking, the Sox will be kicking off ticket sales for Fenway Park at 10:00am, next Saturday, December 13. Just go to Red Sox.com . You can purchase 8 individual tickets, or 8 Sox Pax, which will total 32 tickets. And of course, the prices will remain the same, cause the Red Sox care….Ah huh….

And if you want to actually GO to Fenway to buy your tickets, there is an on-line drawing for the Christmas at Fenway event at Red Sox.com as well–it goes until Monday noon…
